Who you are

  • Candidates should be versatile, eager and able to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive financial and technical environment
  • Currently pursuing in Bachelor’s degree or higher and should not be scheduled to graduate before December of the year in which the internship takes place
  • Desire to learn about technical operations for a financial exchange
  • Advanced Linux command line knowledge
  • High level of proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable

  • Ability to read and evaluate C++ (or similarly complex OO languages)
  • Knowledge of stock and options trading

What the job involves

  • The Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team is responsible for performance tuning and capacity planning for multiple high performance, ultralow latency financial exchanges
  • The SRE team also provides operational support for these exchanges to maintain system availability and optimal performance
  • The SRE team works closely with Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Network Engineering teams to troubleshoot complex issues, to coordinate and support platform configuration updates, and to leverage new cutting-edge technologies
  • The SRE intern role is a great opportunity to learn about complex software systems and financial markets
  • Provide technical support to sustain resiliency and high availability of financial exchanges
  • Analyzing performance metrics and optimizing the latency of the exchanges
  • Collaborating with Infrastructure/Development teams for technology upgrades and migrations
  • Supporting Cboe’s Incident Management process to resolve and investigate technical issues
  • Driving and implementing capacity planning decisions for Operations
  • Developing, testing, and maintaining automation and monitoring tools
