Role

Who you are

  • BS/BA in Computer Science or related field or 10 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in building large front-end applications that span across years of development by multiple teams
  • Excellent communication and lead skills to be able work and collaborate with other teams involved in our projects
  • Past experience with Live Commerce or Live Stream is big PLUS
  • Experience with React on the client (including server-side rendered React)
  • Experience serving web applications using NodeJS
  • Experience with modern Typescript
  • Knowledge in GraphQL (using Apollo client and codegen tools)
  • Experience with WebSockets and/or WebRTC
  • Deep understanding of responsive and adaptive html/css principles
  • Strong testing advocacy (unit, e2e)
  • Experience building/setting-up shared component libraries
  • Experience building/setting-up application builds (server and client)
  • DevOps experience, CD/CI mindset, using Jenkins to automate application/library builds, releases, PR validations

What the job involves

  • EBay is looking to hire a passionate, collaborative and motivated Frontend Software Engineer to work in eBay Live, while this type of real-time platform has gained broad acceptance in APAC, the adoption of live shopping in the Americas and EMEA is still relatively low, and we’re working to be the platform of choice for this emerging trend
  • You will be a member of our Core AI Engineering team, building eBay Live
  • Lead the design and development of sophisticated applications for the eBay Live platform, focusing on delivering exceptional user experiences and robust functionality
  • Collaborate closely with peers, Architects, Product Managers, Business Analysts, Quality Engineers, and Operations teams to develop innovative solutions that meet functional and non-functional standards and expectations
  • Be involved in development, testing, release, triage, bug fix, documentation, and work in an Agile environment. Use of tools like JIRA, Git, CICD and other internal eBay tools on a regular basis to organize work and deliver features
  • Participate in technical design and code reviews and provide feedback to other engineers on the team
  • Deliver highly performing, low latency, robust code with high test case coverage, continuous integration and production monitoring
  • Triage and debug production issues
  • Mentor junior team members
