  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • You are a full stack software engineer with experience designing and implementing robust applications at scale using one or more of the following frameworks: PHP/Laravel, Ruby On Rails or similar
  • You have experience with event-driven, data-centric architectures built on relational databases, microservices and Kafka
  • You can normalize a data schema as easily as you can design an event payload, while steering the team away from common pitfalls
  • You apply clean code standards and SOLID principles in your day to day work, and provide constructive feedback guiding others to do the same
  • You are comfortable in a highly collaborative agile environment

What the job involves

  • We are seeking a senior software software engineer to join our Application Development team. This team is responsible for the technical vision and development of Canoe’s next-generation web applications
  • In this role you will lead other engineers and cross-functional teams that design, develop and ship mission-critical products and features powering Canoe’s continued hypergrowth and leadership in the alternative investments industry
  • Lead cross-functional, dynamic project teams responsible for developing new functionality primarily on a Vue / Typescript / Kafka / PHP / Laravel / Postgresql stack
  • Translate business requirements for new products and features into technical designs that enable efficient implementation by you and your teammates
  • Seamlessly integrate new solutions into Canoe’s distributed, event-driven architecture through careful design of Kafka events, payloads and consumers
  • Review and provide constructive feedback on technical designs and code produced by your teammates
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Canoe engineering through proactive brainstorming, presentation of ideas and mentoring

Our take

The internet presents itself as a seemingly infinite source of crucial information, particularly when it comes to financial information to inform smart investment. However, the sheer amount of data available makes it incredibly difficult to mine, aggregate and analyze in a way that is fast and efficient enough to be useful.

Canoe leverages AI technology to automate the analysis of investment data, including document collection, data extraction, categorization and validation. The technology is provided in the form of cloud-based tools, API packages and integrated portals, ultimately aiming to present a unified system in which investors can tackle the inefficiencies of manual investment data analysis.

It's undeniable that other automated data analysis services are available, but the unified nature of Canoe makes it stand out as a solution with a lot of potential. The company is currently focused on accelerating expansion into European markets, growing its team, and further optimisation and development of its product offerings.
