Role

Who you are

  • BA/BS degree
  • 7+ years of email/CRM marketing experience; must include experience with SaaS or subscription-based services. Experience with both B2B and B2C marketing is a plus
  • 2+ years experience with managing, coaching, and motivating teams
  • Must have strong experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud from top to bottom, including building triggered email programs, managing lists, executing email sends, and more. Experience with Acoustic is a plus
  • High level of comfort working with engineers and product managers; SQL experience preferred
  • Strategic thinking: You are able to consider an idea from all angles, ask smart questions, and make thoughtful decisions that align with company needs and values
  • You get things done: You’re a self starter, organized, resourceful, and have the ability to manage projects from start to finish
  • You care about the details: You have an eye for design, a good instinct for what email content will resonate with consumers, and triple-check every email before it’s sent

What the job involves

  • IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions of people globally, is looking for a Manager, Email Marketing to lead the development and implementation of email marketing programs for our flagship brand, IXL
  • You will lead the strategy and execution of our B2B (teachers, administrators) and B2C (parents) campaigns, with the goals of driving customer acquisition and building strong engagement among our existing customer base
  • You’ll partner with Marketing and Product team members to develop and implement new strategies—and improve upon existing ones
  • You will also be hands-on with our email operations, building effective automated programs and ad-hoc emails, and improving our internal workflows
  • And, you’ll manage a team of email marketing specialists
  • Own the development and execution of email marketing programs for IXL
  • Identify strategic opportunities for growth and retention. This includes but is not limited to lead generation, lead nurture, engagement, onboarding, upsell, re-engagement, and transactional emails
  • Optimize our email marketing processes, including campaign development, email design, segmentation, personalization, and more
  • Monitor analytics and conduct A/B testing to refine our email strategy
  • Ensure success of email execution, QA, deliverability, and maintenance of our database; assist with deployment of emails as needed
  • Collaborate with various teams, including Marketing, Sales, Product, Design, and Engineering, to develop and execute campaigns and automation projects
  • Manage and mentor a team of email marketing specialists

The personalized learning platform has grown and developed since the late 90s internet boom and become more responsive and tailored to each of its students' needs.

This evolution has been achieved through breakthroughs in analytics software as well as numerous lucrative acquisitions by IXL. These buyouts have included Rosetta Stone, one of the global leading language learning platforms, Education.com and Vocabulary.com. IXL also facilitates Wyzant, the largest tutoring network in the US, and ABCya, which has published more than 300 educational computer games.

With a vast internet network of companies under its belt, IXL is still investing in innovation in the 2020s. In 2022, it acquired Curiosity Media which is responsible for Fluencia. This Spanish language learning app uses neuroscience research to perfect the learning of the Spanish language, exemplifying how IXL has grown from a revolutionary online learning platform to a multi-pronged investor in education. That being said, it still releases its own groundbreaking products such as the IXL Math "Takeoff" platform, a personalised whole-class instruction resource for teachers.
