Company mission

To empower independent pizzerias with the tech and services that power the big chains, to enable them to be in business for themselves, not by themselves.

Role

Who you are

  • We need someone who loves pizza, loves entrepreneurs and local businesses, and loves to connect people together
  • We need a person with energy, passion and creativity
  • We need someone who wants to build the most incredible pizza community in the world from the ground up
  • Love of Pizza - What’s your favorite local shop?
  • Builder mentality - You have to want to build something from nothing
  • Energy - Pizza is a crazy industry, but it’s super fun
  • Empathy - Being an Entrepreneur is hard work, you have to know and engage that
  • Urgency - We have to move fast and get stuff done
  • Detail oriented - The little stuff makes the magic happen
  • Willingness to go the extra mile for any customer
  • Experience managing events (both digital and in-person)
  • Experience creating various forms of content to educate shop owners on best business practices (eg blogs, newsletters, social media)

What the job involves

  • Slice’s mission is to help independent pizzerias thrive. To do this, we need to help bring them together and share their stories. We need to help build a unified, engaged and powerful community, and we need someone to help us do that

Our take

Slice gives independent pizzerias easy access to the digital tools needed to run a successful business, from bespoke websites with online ordering capabilities to digital marketing and SEO services, all with 24/7 support at hand. According to Slice, pizzerias that use its services can expect a 40% increase in their online order value and a 50% increase in repeat customers.

The market for online food ordering is huge, with large competitors like Grubhub, Deliveroo, and Uber Eats controlling most of the market share. To differentiate itself, Slice has honed in on the popularity of pizza, and also provides extra services to its client restaurants that can help them compete with successful chains. It also charges a flat subscription fee, in comparison to the high commission rates charged by most delivery platforms.

Slice works with over 19,000 independent pizzerias across all 50 US states. It has recently hired new members of its executive team and was featured in Crunchbase's SMB Tech 50, a testament to its growth and popularity so far. It is the US's largest pizza network, nearly triple the footprint of Domino's, and it hopes to continue this upward growth in the coming years.
