Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of management experience, with 2+ leading AI/ML teams
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale product or platform results by leveraging and influencing cross-functional collaborations
- Experience in delivering or supporting products across various organizations, building and maintaining cross-functional partnerships
- Demonstrable experience in designing Applied AI Systems and Architecture
- Have participated in developing or driving engineering-wide initiatives (recruiting processes, career frameworks, etc) in a prior role
- Have prior experience managing complex, long-term projects that touch multiple teams and cross-functional stakeholders
- Have previous startup experience, or worked in an environment that prioritizes a bias for action
- Have an interest in learning about security or prior experience in the space
What the job involves
- As an Engineering Manager, you’ll be responsible for setting strategy, for leading your team to deliver results consistently and sustainably, for growing and developing talented engineers, and for cultivating a healthy, results-driven culture on your team
- The AI team aims to revolutionize the operation of security and compliance programs. We are doing so by streamlining the tedious Q&A process in security reviews and arming our users with actionable insights based on their business context and Vanta’s subject matter expertise
- AI plays a critical role in the value Vanta delivers to customers, and we are just getting started. It’s essential that we stay on top of the cutting edge technologies, cultivate innovation across the organization, and unlock more values to customers and business
- You’ll leverage your domain knowledge and past experience to drive the technical and strategic AI vision forward
- Oversee the development and maintenance of scalable machine learning infrastructure. You are expected to roll up your sleeves and get hands on when necessary
- Prioritize and oversee the AI research effort at Vanta to unlock new opportunities for the business
- Drive significant impact for our customers and business by leading teams to deliver results consistently and sustainably
- Develop and hire teams of talented and kind engineers
- Set direction and guide technical strategy, ensuring that your team is delivering long-term value aligned with Vanta’s business priorities
- Work closely with Vanta’s customers and customer-facing teammates to build and ship high-value products and infrastructure
- Play an integral role in laying the foundation for Vanta’s engineering culture

The security auditing process is usually very time-consuming, taking hours to complete, and it is often difficult for start-ups to invest time into such a process. Yet, the benefits of security accreditation are enormous, mainly as many such businesses are working globally and need ways to demonstrate security compliance to one another. Vanta works specifically with start-ups to help them complete and pass security audits such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
The company is a compliance portal and security monitoring platform that businesses use to assess their risk levels. Vanta carries out a pre-audit of a company's digital security and highlights areas that need to be worked on before a full analysis of all threats is carried out. Other businesses such as Datadog or PagerDuty offer similar security monitoring services, but Vanta monitors its customers throughout the year, allowing any issues to be identified and addressed early on.
Vanta has found a valuable cybersecurity niche within the giant SaaS market. Companies such as Lattice, Clubhouse, and Calm are all customers, demonstrating a growing trend for companies to manage their cybersecurity proactively, which Vanta should be able to take advantage of to further grow and develop into the future.
