What the job involves

  • We are looking for a Ruby/Rails Engineer to join our engineering team
  • Backend engineers maintain and improve the core Ruby/Rails system that powers the help & care Spring Health offers, as well as empowering internal teams to succeed in our mission to eliminate barriers to mental health
  • You will help build software that ensures sensitive data is handled efficiently, safely, and with an eye for scale
  • You will also drive forward engineering initiatives that improve the reliability and maintainability of the engineering platform as a whole, mentoring and collaborating with team members along the way
  • Backend Systems Refinement: Leverage your experience with Ruby on Rails to iterate on our core services & data models
  • Data Architecture: Design data models that support multiple use cases for platform core services, capable of adapting to future scale
  • Quality Assurance: Craft and execute comprehensive tests to ensure the integrity of our systems
  • Observability and Monitoring: Implement comprehensive observability and monitoring to ensure the success and reliability of our core systems. Work with your team & other engineering teams at Spring Health to build & improve tools that allow operations teams to function efficiently
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers in the organization to build a uniform approach to software development and to help establish core standards for within Rails. You will understand the needs of stakeholders within the organization and ensure success
  • Mentoring Engineers: As a senior member, you will mentor other engineers in the organization. Including sharing knowledge, guiding best practices, and fostering a collaborative and growth oriented environment
  • What success looks like in this role:
  • Deliver an innovative product feature suite on-time while emphasizing scalability, efficiency, and maintainability
  • Maintain and promote strong engineering practices (e.g. minimizing code churn, cycle time, etc…)
  • Develop architectures that allow for integrations and scalable growth
  • Raise the bar for engineering excellence and delivery

Large companies often provide employees with mental health services, but small businesses find it challenging to offer similar support. Additionally, existing support systems are usually generalized, failing to deliver the personalized mental healthcare that individuals need. To address this gap, Spring Health has developed AI-driven tools for employers to create tailored mental wellness plans for their employees, including treatment options, daily routines, and medication plans based on individual data.

Spring Health has recently expanded its services to the family and pediatric space through the acquisition of Weldon, offering mental wellness guidance to parents. This expansion includes chats with therapists, social workers, and parenting coaches, as well as group support with other parents and access to educational content. By focusing on personalized care, Spring Health aims to enhance mental wellness support for families alongside its existing employee services.

The behavioral health market is projected to grow to $242B by 2027. While many solutions prioritise fast access to therapy or meditation, Spring Health differentiates itself by emphasizing the right type of care for each individual. With substantial funding raised, Spring Health is well-positioned to continue its innovative approach to mental health services.
