What the job involves

  • We are looking to hire a Business Developer, responsible for unlocking and growing our portfolios through sales development, relationship building, engagement activities and great customer/shipper experience
  • The successful candidate will analyze market data to identify trends/opportunities, utilize an extensive network of relationships within the relevant industry to gather market intelligence, and execute on business development opportunities
  • This role sits within the Business Development team, part of Amazon Freight Commercial team
  • Focusing on new customer acquisition in the European market, the New Business Developer is expected to attract new businesses, tailor our product to customers' needs and close business deals with the needle-moving shippers for Amazon Freight
  • Alongside you’ll be responsible for developing our strategic portfolios through relationship building, engagement activities and ensuring a great customer experience
  • This individual will facilitate market data to identify trends/opportunities, utilize an extensive network of relationships with the relevant industry to gather market intelligence, and execute on business development opportunities
  • Acquire, engage and accelerate high potential shippers to Amazon Freight
  • Maintain a high level of engagement from potential customers and proactively identify the challenges they are facing
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders across the portfolio
  • Be the voice of the customer to guide product development and iterations
  • Identify and lead complex projects or initiatives to solve customer pain points and improve experience by collaborating with internal stakeholders globally/ across the EU
  • Communicating ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, to all types of audiences and not limited to writing narratives, business cases and other strategic documentation

Amazon's seen great success in the space, with its revenue from advertising now higher than its Amazon Prime membership scheme, audiobooks and digital music combined. This growth is particularly impressive considering its digital ad rivals (like Snap, Alphabet, and Meta) have suffered declines due to wider macroeconomic factors and Apple's iOS privacy changes.

Despite its dominant market position, Amazon will continue to be challenged over the next decade, including sustaining AWS's cloud dominance in the face of Google and Microsoft. On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
