Role

Who you are

  • Profitero Ltd is inviting hands-on Big Data Architect to join our product team, creating a next-generation eCommerce intelligence service for retailers and manufacturers
  • We will be happy to welcome new team members who are not afraid of non-trivial tasks, can offer non-standard technical solutions, and take the initiative
  • Demonstrable experience working in a similar role or a senior data engineering role
  • Strong experience designing, developing, setting up & maintaining solutions in Azure/AWS/GCP. Ideally GCP
  • Considerable experience working with large datasets and multiple data feeds
  • Confident working with databases, data warehouses, and data lakes. Ideally Snowflake
  • Confident working with SQL, Spark, and Airflow
  • Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, written, listening & verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to train, coach, and encourage others
  • Working experience in an Agile environment
  • Ability to speak English fluently
  • Experience working in the containerized environment (Docker, Kubernetes)

Desirable

  • Ideally, a Python developer
  • Ideally, have experience with AI, machine learning & statistical tools
  • Understanding of distributed architecture features and challenges
  • Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps/MLOps methodologies
  • Knowledge of real-time streaming platforms (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.)

What the job involves

  • We will develop a brand new Data Platform based on Google Cloud and Snowflake, hosting storage, processing, and data science workloads across multiple products
  • It is an ambitious goal with an ambitious timeline
  • The Data Platform is a crucial part of our Enterprise Architecture
  • It receives data (terabytes) from our Data Acquisition system, processes and enriches it, and serves through our Data Presentation components
  • Initially, all workloads will be batch, but shortly, we plan to have streaming workloads
  • The current focus is to scale new products on the Lake
  • This/Next year we plan the migration of existing data products to Snowflake, which will cause us to rewrite certain data pipelines to adjust to the new technology stack
  • This team will be primarily responsible for implementing those pipelines as well as for guiding/helping other teams
  • Design and build scalable and resilient Data & Analytics solutions
  • Integrating solutions with other components of the system
  • Design and development of Data pipelines
  • Designing data models
  • Engaging in proof of concepts and experiments
  • Participate in overall testing and production maintenance
  • Create and sustain Architectural Artifacts (Diagrams, Proposals, Architecture Definition Documents)
  • Participate in overall refinements, testing, and production maintenance
