Who you are

  • This role demands a strong technical background and proven experience in developing data products in SaaS space that solve critical customer pain points
  • Your keen attention to detail, quality-oriented mindset, and ability to translate technical capabilities into meaningful customer benefits are essential
  • 7+ years of product management experience, with an emphasis on data platforms
  • Strong knowledge of data architecture, data engineering, machine learning, and AI technologies, including AI-driven product development
  • Demonstrated experience with ML frameworks and tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn)
  • Proficient in data collection, storage, processing, and security in cloud environments
  • Ability to drive vision & strategy across a team of PMs, engineers, analysts, designers, and marketers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Have a proven track record of leveraging data-driven insights to deliver business results
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive product strategy and execution
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Ability to work with limited direction across multiple projects -- self-starter personality is a must
  • Comfort diving into large, complex datasets with little or no documentation
  • Willingness to take on big challenges and own the results from ideation through execution
  • A customer-centric mindset and empathy for the humans behind the numbers

What the job involves

  • Bitly is seeking a mission-driven and relentlessly curious Sr. Product Manager to join our Data Platform team
  • As a Sr. Product Manager, you will shape the product strategy, roadmap, and vision, positioning data as a cornerstone of our business
  • Your primary goal will be to democratize data access and leverage it effectively to drive informed decision-making across the organization
  • You will also be a key member of the team spearheading AI/ML initiatives, delivering impact across the business
  • Define and execute the product strategy for the Data Platform, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall vision and goals
  • Ensure Bitly’s data is accurate, complete, consistent, timely, valid and ultimately supports the company and enables sound decision-making
  • Be a champion for data and grow data literacy across the organization
  • Manage the entire product lifecycle. Gather requirements, define functionality, and set goals in a clear, actionable format that can be used to communicate with the team and drive product delivery
  • Spearhead novel AI/ML initiatives at Bitly, integrating AI/ML capabilities into existing and new products, and across business operations
  • Identify market opportunities, build business cases, and help shape and define product vision and strategy for the entire company in collaboration with the Data Platform team
  • Understand customer pain points, develop solutions, and then prototype, iterate, and launch frequently
  • Take a data-driven approach to defining success metrics, prioritizing requirements, and communicating plans, progress, and success
  • Lead a cross-functional agile team of data engineers and software engineers
  • Develop the data product roadmap and be its evangelist
  • Be an owner of features and products, end-to-end

Our take

Bitly provides the service of shortening URLs along with offering link management for companies. Many major companies utilize shorter URLs for branding reasons; for example, Pepsi uses pep.si.

Shortened URLs have become big business, and competition in the space comes from the likes of TinyURL, along with Rebrandly and BL.INK. Bitly, that was majority purchased by Spectrum Equity for $63 million in 2017, has raised massive amounts of funding and achieved impressive annual revenues, and certainly seems to have established itself as a credible business in the market.

After acquiring leading QR code platform Egoditor and its flagship site QR Code Generator in 2021, Bitly has embarked upon rapid expansion, and added to the pool of talent across the business. For now, the company's focus seems to be on growing its global SaaS footprint; targeting QR Codes, link-in-bio, and link management.
