  • Significant experience in Python with strong grasp of software engineering standard methodologies such as code-reusability, modularity, use of repos, etc
  • A strong academic track record, with experience of developing tech-based solutions to a variety of problems (potentially though your knowledge of machine learning, deep learning or Computer Vision) in a corporate setting
  • Have demonstrated expertise in machine learning and artificial intelligence tasks such as feature engineering, image processing, NLP, or model training

What the job involves

  • Reuters is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to help create artificial intelligence products for Reuters News
  • As a Senior Data Scientist, you’ll plan and develop news technology projects that will play a crucial role in supporting both our global newsrooms as well as the strategy and execution of Reuters’ news production efforts
  • You’ll work closely with a range of stakeholders both within the newsroom and with the wider business to determine the path forward in how Reuters puts stories out into the world, from a technological perspective
  • Using your academic and problem solving skills, you’ll create deep learning, machine learning, and artificial intelligence models using state-of-the-art research and cloud platform solutions, with a special focus on data preparation, testing and evaluation of metric performance
  • Work as part of a collaborative team that works closely with the CTO on both AI and non-AI software products that power Reuters’ global newsrooms in real-time
  • Work in both a strategic and practical manner, building great news solutions that will aid the way in which Reuters newsrooms use video, photo and text multimedia when getting crucial information around the world  at high speed
  • Use your analytical skills to gather and prepare datasets whilst training analytical models. This work will be key to Reuters’ delivery of news to its different global audiences, but will also be key to our understanding of how our audiences are using and consuming news
  • Assist with evaluating systems, including the use of performance metrics that allow different business units to make great strategic decisions in a technological space
  • Be a great listener and problem solver. You’ll work closely with both editorial and technological stakeholders internally to understand pain points, areas for innovation, and will establish the best course of action, in building and delivering practical, innovative solutions with its users’ needs at heart
