Our take

Servers have been essential to web development since the rise of the internet, but advancements in online infrastructure are causing them to become antiquated. This has resulted in a demand for an alternative to servers that is easier to deploy and scale on today’s web.

Netlify provides a platform that takes care of back end infrastructure for front end developers. The technology uses a new server architecture named Jamstack which migrates development functionality to a web browser. As a result, websites can be rendered directly through API microservices instead of calling servers.

Netlify aims to cut costs and save time by removing the necessity for a server within a client’s stack. The company has more than 4 million developers, and continues to focus on scaling its enterprise customers which stands at over 475 and currently includes Google, Facebook and Unilever.
