Company mission

To be the fastest and easiest way to build the future of FinTech.

Role

Who you are

  • We are looking for interesting, curious, wickedly smart people who are ready to jump in and run with our fast-growing team. If you want to have fun at work, collaborate with some of the sharpest people in the industry, grow the FinTech and Banking as a Service ecosystem, and love to win, read on!
  • Our dream candidate is a user-obsessed, enthusiastic team player who enjoys working closely with cross-functional team members and is eager to help solve a range of fun problems
  • We’re searching for someone with a passion to help drive change in financial services
  • 3+ years of professional experience working as a Software Engineer
  • Prior experience with Go
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases
  • Experience in using and creating RESTful APIs, which will be consumed by our frontend engineers and our customers

What the job involves

  • As a backend software engineer, you’ll join our Application Experience team where you will play a crucial role in shaping the API and backend capabilities that power the core interactions our customers have with the Synctera Console
  • This includes optimizing workflows that help our customers and internal team members perform operational tasks efficiently working with a self-serve product mindset
  • Develop application services in Go (Golang)
  • Work with the product team and other engineers to understand financial services challenges and develop solutions to address them
  • Envision cleaner, simpler ways to solve problems
  • Keep learning, keep growing and help your team do the same
  • Work in close partnership with cross-functional teams
  • Our Stack:
  • Our platform is built in Go (for backend services) and React with Typescript (for the Synctera Console, our frontend). We’re built on top of Google Cloud Platform and typically use Postgres (Cloud SQL, AlloyDB), Redis (Cloud Memorystore), and Pub/Sub as our core application stack, with OpenAPI specifications being used to both document our API and be the foundation for inter-service communication
  • Our infrastructure is predominantly a mixture of Kubernetes (Google Kubernetes Engine) and Cloud Run (Google’s serverless compute platform), with Terraform orchestrating infrastructure, and tools like Argo facilitating deployments

Otta's take

CTO of Otta

Synctera is a Banking-as-a-Service platform that supplies users with the capabilities to build and launch successful FinTech apps or embedded banking products. By fast-tracking the work involved in finding a banking partner, and in discovering the right best-in-class tech, the platform frees businesses up to instead focus on their core operations.

Through the Synctera platform, businesses can build bank account and card programs, as well as incorporate services such as money movement and lending. The company also provides support and resources surrounding compliance and post-launch management, making it as simple as possible for clients to tap into the growing and fertile fintech market, and do it smartly.

The company faces extensive competition in a global market worth billions, but in helping to oil the wheels of collaboration and Fintech market access, it creates value for businesses across the board and stands well to reap the rewards. Recent funding is cited to fuel geographical expansion as well as grow its operations in Canada as it moves to add support for new credit, lending, and other banking use cases.
