Who you are

  • To be successful, the technical product manager needs to have technical and business acumen along with a passion for delighting users with simple solutions and engaging digital experiences
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related discipline; or comparable work experience. Technical Certifications are a plus
  • 5+ years of product management experience, including 2+ years managing APIs, API Gateways, SDKs, or other developer-facing products
  • 2+ years experience with API Security (Auth N/Z) & Compliance
  • Experience working with RESTful APIs, OpenAPI, and Kong at scale
  • Strategic, analytical thinker with the ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Exceptional collaboration, partnership, and influencing skills
  • Strong prioritization skills of competing needs and tradeoffs to articulate a clear rationale
  • Demonstrated ability to use analytics and optimization tools to inform product planning and prioritization
  • Ability to thoroughly understand complex business and technical issues and influence decision making
  • Ability to gain deep understanding of the system architecture and design concepts behind complex, enterprise-class software solutions at high transaction volumes
  • Talent for designing future-proof solutions with an eye towards future use cases, scalability, and maintainability

What the job involves

  • As a Senior Product Manager, API Platform in our Ecosystem Division, you will be responsible for the strategy, definition, usability, and performance of our API Gateway and Integration Platform for internal and external developers
  • You will be valued as a technical subject matter expert among business and engineering partners for your ability to maximize the value of your products and services through thoughtful, data-driven problem solving, crisp definition of MVP solutions, and cross-functional collaboration
  • This position will report to the Group Product Manager of Ecosystem and is based in Austin, TX
  • Create and drive API strategy and technical product requirements with Architects and Eng leads (API gateway, federation, security, performance, load balancing, throttling, metering, charge models, etc)
  • Responsible for determining business needs, understanding market demands, technical trends, problem solving and proposing solutions
  • Consult across product teams for API design & implementation best practices
  • Define requirements for internal dev tooling and API compliance and validation
  • Define API lifecycle management & policies at Procore (governance, guidelines, definition of done, breaking change policies, etc)
  • Own and maintain API gateway traffic reporting and metrics
  • Create dashboard/reporting requirements and KPIs to measure performance and adoption
  • Influences decisions by providing technical consultation and direction to stakeholders
  • Recommend new technology trends and innovative products/features to the team
  • Measure feature success post deployment and feeds insights back to the team and business partner
  • Identify and documents technical tradeoffs as well as dependencies and constraints
  • Effective communications of roadmaps, product delivery milestones, and progress
