  • 3 + years of working experience in programming languages such as Go, Java, Python, etc
  • 5+ years working with cloud platforms (AWS and GCP)
  • Strong Agile development background
  • Proficiency in DevOps technologies, container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker), service deployment, monitoring and scaling
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work with stakeholders at all management levels
  • Excellent people-management abilities and an advocate of the company culture
  • Ability to prosper in ambiguous, fast paced, dynamic environments
  • AWS or GCP Professional certification in the relevant discipline is desirable
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter, highly motivated and ability to learn quickly
  • Master’s in Computer science or equivalent

What the job involves

  • As the Sr Manager of Engineering, you will lead with a curious mindset and solve problems by thinking differently
  • You will lead a global team of software engineers and will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, product managers, engineering leads, and customer support
  • Setting technical vision and direction as well as assisting your teams in producing their best work through efficient coaching and mentoring are all responsibilities of the position
  • You will lead globally distributed engineering teams building global standardized technologies for containers, cloud agnostic K8s operators, controller methodologies for application lifecycle management, service mesh, side cars, configuration management, and more
  • Your core mission will be to increase agility, decrease time-to-market, and boost cost efficiency of Workday's R&D organizations who rely on your “as-a-service” foundational technology platform

Workday is a cloud-based software vendor that provides management of workforces and finances. The company uses a single database for workforce management and financial management to offer integration and optimize business intelligence across companies. It has added to the packages and tools it offers over the years, providing analytic options that allow companies to combine third-party data with information collected by Workday.

Workday has acquired and paired up with many other companies to keep expanding its offering. In 2021, it purchased the employee feedback platform Peakon in response to the growing need for managers to be able to survey workers and collect satisfaction data without face-to-face meetings. The company has also bought and developed many financial tools and HR management tools.

The company’s goal is to provide end-to-end back office services and while there are other providers, such as UKG Pro and Ceridian HCM, Workday’s broad offering helps them to stand out. Though it faced a tough global market in 2023 and has shed some of its headcount, Workday has seen a 6.5% gain in value in the first quarter of 2024. It is now focusing on growth and developing the AI capabilities of its platform. .
