Company mission

To bring people the knowledge they need to make a difference in the world.

Role

Who you are

  • You have a Bachelors/Masters/PhD degree in Statistics, Mathematics or Computer Science, or another quantitative field
  • You have 4+ years of industry experience (3+ for Masters degree holders, 2+ for PhD degree holders)
  • You are concise and precise in written and verbal communication. Technical documentation is your strong suit
  • You are strong at defining good product KPIs/guardrail metrics, dashboarding and analysis of raw data to derive strategic insights
  • You are proficient in SQL and the modern data stack (e.g. dbt pipelines for ETL/ELT)
  • You have experience in writing source-controlled code for pipelines and internal tools for data-oriented decision making
  • You are proficient in Python

Desirable

  • You have experience in B2B SaaS
  • You have experience with remote work across large time zone differences
  • You’re strong in statistics and/or machine learning. You have experience in applying these skills into tangible improvements in products, internal tools and processes

What the job involves

  • At Glean, data scientists collaborate with engineering, product management and design to:
  • Define and build data assets, e.g. KPI definitions, data pipelines and dashboards, to measure the performance of AI-powered assistant products for knowledge workers
  • Identify opportunities to improve these KPIs, and influence cross functional teams to incorporate associated changes into their roadmaps
  • Create and maintain quantitative frameworks and methodologies, e.g. bring more rigor into experiment analyses, use statistical modeling to identify leading indicators of user churn & retention
  • Accelerating Glean’s adoption, expansion, and usage intensity across all the product surfaces and customer lifecycles by using data to identify, implement and measure the effectiveness of product-led user growth strategies
  • Build data assets, e.g. KPI definitions, data pipelines and dashboards, to measure the efficacy of generative AI products executing workflows on behalf of end users, instead of just answering questions and helping them find what they need
  • These workflows will range from simple to multi-step complex workflows, and will pave the way for AI Agent capabilities that will enable end-users to provide their needs in natural language and achieve those tasks via LLM-powered chain of autonomous execution

Our take

Glean is an intuitive digital assistant which allows employees to search across all their apps and find the information and tools that they need more quickly.

With so many SaaS apps being used by modern day companies, overwhelm and inefficiency inevitably enter the equation. Glean’s search engine is proving popular for how it unifies and centralizes all these distributed tools and data.

It’s been quite a start to life at Glean, having only emerged from stealth in 2021, it received a $1 Billion valuation in early 2022, thus achieving unicorn status, and has received nearly $400 million in funding so far. The SaaS platform is already used by some major companies including Grammarly, databricks, and Rubrik.

That Glean was co-founded by a quartet with senior experience at Google, Microsoft, Uber, and Facebook stands the company in good stead. However, it’s the fact that its search engine is solving a new, but very real problem in the workplace that’s seen its popularity surge so quickly, which it’s likely to continue to do in the future. Its adaptability to include new AI capabilities to its platform, such as generative AI, has Glean well set to see further growth.
