Company mission

To empower everyone to take action on their data.

Role

Who you are

  • We’re looking for a product-minded senior frontend engineer with deep experience developing production-ready applications and a passion for building a great user experience
  • The ideal candidate will be comfortable building a strong understanding of our core users and personas, collaborate well with product managers and designers to ship features quickly, and be able to prioritize and make good decisions with ambiguous requirements
  • While this is a senior role, we prioritize impact and potential for growth over years of experience

What the job involves

  • Building upon Reverse ETL’s ability to use SQL to sync to any SaaS tool, Customer Studio is Hightouch’s second major product that provides a purpose-built no-code suite of features that enables anyone, regardless of their SQL experience, to activate data directly from their warehouse
  • The product has grown extremely quickly, now accounting for half of our revenue, and we’re continuing to invest aggressively in this area
  • There are still a ton of exciting projects and challenges ahead, which also gives this role the potential to have significant impact!
  • As a key member of the larger frontend team at Hightouch, you will also play a crucial role in shaping best practices within our engineering organization
  • You will have the opportunity to mentor other frontend engineers, make important technical decisions, and establish the standard for our user experience
  • Some of the projects you might work on include:
  • Audience builder: Hightouch’s audience builder was the first feature we released as part of our Customer Studio product suite. We’re constantly looking to improve and extend our audience builder to accommodate increasingly complex marketing campaigns. Working with our core audiences experiences will help you acquire a deep understanding of the marketing persona and the role user segmentation plays in their day-to-day workflow
  • Journey builder: Marketing teams build complex orchestration flows with potentially hundreds of nodes and syncs in order to personalize messaging to their customers. We aim to make our journey building process intuitive and easy-to-use while giving marketers the full power of Hightouch’s Customer Studio and rETL platforms
  • Analytics, insights, and data visualization: We envision an experience where the marketing team can use Customer Studio in a “closed loop” - ideate on and create audiences and campaigns, monitor and measure the performance of those audiences and campaigns, and use those insights to build new audiences and drive growth. Analytics and insights are big areas that we’re exploring to give marketers easy-to-use charts and dashboards that hide the complexity of the billions of rows of data that underpin those insights
  • Hightouch UI: As our team grows, we’re evolving our frontend design system to be more reusable and developer-friendly

Application process

  • Intro Call [15-30m]: Introductory call with either a member of our recruiting team or the hiring manager to get to know each other and see if the role could be a good mutual fit
  • Technical Exercise [45m]: Collaborate with a frontend engineer to create a frequently used Hightouch app component
  • Technical Interview [90m]: Work with the interview to design, architect, and implement a complex frontend component
  • Hiring Manager Interview [30m]: Chat with hiring manager about past experiences and future operating preferences to assess fit on company values and operating principles

Our take

The use of data integration software involves combining data from different sources to provide users with a unified view. Due to the growing need to combine several heterogeneous data sources, along with the rise of cloud computing, demand for effective data integration tools and services has been increasing.

While Fivetran is one of the most prominent platforms companies use to “extract, transform, and load” data into its warehouse, Hightouch does the opposite of that, what has become known as “reverse ETL.” For example, a company could use Fivetran to get the data into its warehouse and then use Hightouch to get the data from the warehouse and into Salesforce.

Hightouch serves a diverse range of clients, from B2B giants like Kong, Plaid, and Mattermost to B2C leaders like Nando's and Autotrader. With recent acquisitions including the product-led sales automation startup Workbase and the knowledge management startup Whatis, alongside an expanded partnership with Snowflake, Highlight continues to enhance its capabilities and provide seamless data activation for its growing customer base.
