Company mission

We believe in money without borders. That's why we're building the best way to move and manage the world’s money. Min fees. Max ease. Full speed.

Role

Who you are

  • Strong experience of working in PR in Germany - this could be in-house or at a PR agency, where you’ve led accounts and have been instrumental in the client’s success. Bonus if you’ve worked in fintech
  • Track record of building memorable campaigns from scratch that drove impactful coverage through earned media
  • An innate understanding of what makes a good story for the media and how to secure great quality media coverage - along with strong existing media relationships in Germany. You’re a natural when it comes to building new contacts
  • Comfortable with scrutinising complex and technical data and turning them into simple and compelling messages and stories
  • A genuine, enthusiastic interest in Wise’s mission and developing and communicating great ideas to make financial services fairer
  • An ability to work proactively and autonomously in a high-growth company with a hands-on approach
  • Stickler for measurement - you’ll be comfortable with articulating, understanding (and tweaking!) the impact of the work you do
  • Critical thinker, highly organised, detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines consistently
  • Excellent written and spoken English and German. Additional language skills are a bonus

What the job involves

  • We’re looking for a Senior PR Manager to build, manage and improve Wise’s strong reputation across DACH
  • We’re looking for a confident, creative PR individual with a demonstrated background leading bold PR awareness campaigns for consumer, tech or payment brand companies
  • You will be critical to helping journalists and other key audiences understand how Wise is building the best way to move and manage around the world through our products: Wise Account, Wise Business and Wise Platform
  • This role has a primary focus on Germany as well as working on projects in Switzerland and Austria, but will require you also to quickly embed yourself on pan-european or global projects
  • You will be based in our London office, reporting to the EMEA PR Lead
  • Own Product and Corporate Communications in a key growth region: Help us grow by embedding yourself in Wise’s local team to maximise the product news pipeline and generate news with a highly localised, nuanced approach
  • Handle complicated issues when they crop up, and work directly with journalists to make sure Wise’s reputation is upheld
  • You’ll be able to devise and execute a highly-localised PR strategy to drive reputation and growth – whether it’s delivering substantial media coverage through campaigns, turning speaking opportunities into reality, or developing of new ways we can make the media and public aware of what we do - as an individual and through the support of an agency
  • You’ll be quickly comfortable to foster relationships working with specialist spokespeople such as our Country Managers, Leadership Team and you’ll understand how to take a creative approach to make the seemingly mundane a hot news topic
  • Support Corporate Communications: Develop communications strategies to build awareness of Wise with influential business, tech and consumer lifestyle media, as well as handling issues as and when they arise
  • Manage our agency partner in Germany

Company benefits

  • Stock: At Wise, we’re all invested in our mission. And through our individual roles, we each take ownership of achieving it. That’s why, alongside your salary, we grant Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) to all Wisers, so we can all share in our success
  • Paid sabbatical: It's a marathon, not a sprint. We know working at Wise is challenging and all our people go above and beyond for our customers. That’s why, after 4 years at Wise, you’ll have the option to take a sabbatical. You’ll get 6 weeks’ paid time off and £1,000 financial support
  • Work from anywhere: After your first 6 months, most people can work virtually from (almost) anywhere in the world for up to 90 days a year: Yep, just about anywhere on the planet. • Me Days: You get 3 ‘me days’ per year to help you manage your life. This can be used for whatever you like — perhaps to take the dog to the vet, to pamper yourself, or take your Mum on a day out. It’s completely up to you. Me days are prorated in your first year, based on your start date
  • Parental leave: We offer a minimum of 18 weeks (or 4 months in Estonia) of fully paid parental leave for birth or adoption, if a person has been at Wise for 1+ year at the due date or adoption date. This applies regardless of gender, or your partner’s parental leave policies

  • Flexible working: We know that teams and individuals all have different needs depending on what they need to deliver, as well as their personal circumstances. That’s why we have company-wide principles around flexible working and our teams set their own guidelines too. We expect new joiners to be in the office most days to build connections and learn from colleagues for their first six months
  • Creative workplaces: We design our offices to be enjoyable spaces, where everyone can do their best work. Many are dog-friendly, with massage chairs, games areas and more. We encourage cross-team relationship building through weekly or bi-weekly team lunches, snacks and drinks. Plus regular social events and activities that Wisers can get involved in, such as running club, yoga, gaming or pottery
  • Mission Days: Mission Days is an opportunity that happens twice a year for many of our Wisers to connect around the globe, come together and foster relationships. From the diverse and inclusive atmosphere to the thoughtfully designed collaboration, you’ll experience the power of networking, cross-team collaboration, and gaining a global perspective that propels Wise’s mission forward

We offer 5 paid days of compassionate leave per calendar year. Of course, you may need more than that, and this will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We also offer 10 days leave on full pay for any Wisers affected by pregnancy loss, including those who are partners or surrogate mothers. Wise offers up to 15 paid sick days each year

  • Volunteering day: As a mission-driven and socially responsible organisation, Wise encourages employees to support their community. We offer a day each year for you to volunteer with an organisation of your choice
  • Social get togethers: As well as regular team lunches and get togethers in the office, we also have a 'fun budget' of £30 (or local currency equivalent) per Wiser per month to connect with our teams, in person or virtually.
  • Annual leave: 25 days paid holiday + UK paid bank holidays per calendar year. This is prorated for those who work part-time and/or started midway through the year

Our take

Wise started when the two founders realised they would be better off trading Estonian kroons for British pounds (and vice versa) between themselves rather than going through banks. That was back in 2011, and they've since grown Wise into one of Europe's most successful tech businesses, exchanging billions of currency every month.

Wise rapidly grew by solving a significant problem for customers, who lost too much money to banks when exchanging currency. Its attracted investment from some of the best investors in the world, from Andreesen Horowitz to Index Ventures and even Richard Branson.

While the market is crowded with new entrants (think Revolut and Monzo) and traditional banks trying to catch up, Wise is still staying one step ahead having recently opened a new hub in India and new payment features as well as reporting a rise in key metrics on higher volume and customer growth. This continued growth positions the company well for continued success in the future.
