Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in client software development, with focus on mobile apps
- Cross-platform development experience with C++ and hardware APIs is a plus
- Proven track record of leading the development of high-quality mobile applications
- Experience with modern mobile architectures with very large codebases
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically
- Ability to collaborate with many teams throughout the engineering organization
- Curiosity to learn new technologies and systematically grow your skills
What the job involves
- The Platform Excellence team is looking for a Senior/Principal Software Engineer to help drive technical direction and vision of the Android platform
- The team is dedicated to delivering superior performance, reliability, and user experience on all 7 platforms Roblox runs on
- This team ensures a seamless and engaging user interface that facilitates intuitive interactions, alongside maintaining high performance and reliability for efficient, glitch-free operations. Innovation is at the core of our work, as we continuously enhance features and integrate cutting-edge technologies to find novel solutions to problems
- You will report directly to the Engineering Manager, Platform Excellence
- Bring delightful experience on mobile apps used by tens of millions of users everyday
- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation on the Android platform
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of outstanding engineers
- Partner with product and design leaders to bring wild ideas to life
- Continuously measure and improve app performance across the technical stack
- Bring in latest industry trends, technologies, and standard processes in mobile development
- Drive the adoption of engineering best practices across teams
