Who you are

  • 5+ years commercial experience with Android development
  • Strong grasp of the Kotlin language
  • Experience using Kotlin Coroutines and Flows
  • Experience with automated testing and continuous delivery
  • Ability to describe solutions and their architectural tradeoffs
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills

What the job involves

  • You’ll join the team responsible for major new features in our flagship Android app which helps users better understand their relationship with data and how they can be rewarded from it. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to make a big impact in a rapidly growing business for a completely new category of product
  • Working as part of our existing engineering team, you’ll be actively influencing technical discussions, API designs, and architecture as we iterate rapidly to deliver great new features to our customers. You’ll be using 100% Kotlin in your day-to-day work
  • Our Android app is completely written in Kotlin. All new features are built using Compose, with any existing XML layouts gradually being replaced with Compose as well. It uses coroutines for threading and is heavily modularised, each feature having it's own dedicated module.
  • There's a combination of unit, UI and Integration tests on the project, especially on newer features

The company offers internet users a range of products including a browser, app, and existing browser extension, in which they can elect to share their anonymised data in return for redeemable rewards or simply browse in total privacy. The appeal for advertisers is the promise of a more personal approach, reaching only those who would be interested in their products.

Amidst all the noise surrounding data privacy, Gener8’s solution is a clever one. Indeed, the company gained immense traction after an appearance on BBC’s Dragons’ Den which went viral, and was hailed the show’s best ever pitch. Unsurprisingly, the TV appearance led to a successful funding round, which helped the company to accelerate growth. Further funds have also been secured that will support the launch of Gener8's app as it looks to disrupt the big tech giants.
