Who you are

  • As a New Business Sales Manager you will be comfortable navigating ambiguity and operating in a start-up environment
  • A Degree
  • Relevant experience of communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including your peers and leadership
  • Relevant experience in using data or anecdotal evidence to influence business decisions
  • Relevant experience leading programmes or projects

What the job involves

  • You are expected to create their sales strategy from the ground up, leveraging existing strategies as well as ideating on your own
  • You will use self-generational practices to source new business leads as well receiving marketing qualified leads
  • You will generate experience developing relationships cross-functionally; including across Operations, Procurement, Finance, and IT
  • Drive revenue, adoption, and shipper satisfaction for our product
  • Build trustful partnerships with customers and recommend product solutions that fit their business needs
  • Source and close new business leads as well as marketing qualified leads
  • Measure performance, articulate root-cause analysis, and link to specific improvement areas
  • Relay market needs and requirements back to internal Amazon teams including Product Management and Technical
  • Track your progress and manage through obstacles to achieve your objectives
  • Analyse the current purchasing processes and evaluate opportunities for solutions to improve end user experiences, reduce costs, and accelerate organization performance
  • Drive and accelerate spend adoption through advising customers on best practices for using our product
  • Seek opportunities to expand business relationship across other Amazon entities to drive value for customer
  • Identify prioritisation and trade-offs for meeting adoption and revenue targets

The company is present in numerous verticals, including cloud computing with Amazon Web Services, AI with its range of Alexa devices and a global marketplace more commonly referred to as 'the everything store'. Acquisitions include Ring, Twitch, Whole Foods Market, and IMDb.

More recently, Amazon has been focused on leading the "third wave in digital advertising". Many businesses are now shifting ad dollars to retailers, which before would have been spent with online media platforms. Amazon's seen great success in the space, with its revenue from advertising now higher than its Amazon Prime membership scheme, audiobooks and digital music combined. This growth is particularly impressive considering its digital ad rivals (like Snap, Alphabet, and Meta) have suffered declines due to wider macroeconomic factors and Apple's iOS privacy changes.

Despite its dominant market position, Amazon will continue to be challenged over the next decade, including sustaining AWS's cloud dominance in the face of Google and Microsoft. On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
