Who you are

  • 10+ years of Product Management experience
  • Passion and experience in building and shipping application platforms for developers, such as launching an app platform or having deep experience as an app developer
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of structuring ambiguous concepts clearly and from first principles
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment involving various functions, collaborators, and subject matter experts
  • Proven experience in leading initiatives across large engineering organizations, influencing technical roadmap planning, and execution

Desirable

  • Background in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience
  • Enjoy using social media to engage directly with customers for feedback

  • Hands-on approach, ensuring functionality is thoroughly tested and documentation is meticulously refined before release

What the job involves

  • Developers and businesses are increasingly looking to extend and customize their Commerce capabilities using GoDaddy’s Commerce App Marketplace
  • Our platform enables developers to create and distribute apps within the GoDaddy commerce platform (in-person on Smart Terminal and Cloud), interact with GoDaddy APIs to manage data, synchronize data with third-party services, and more
  • For example, a popular SaaS provider has created an app that syncs inventory and sales data between their service and GoDaddy, allowing merchants to seamlessly manage their omni-channel stores
  • This app is available in the GoDaddy App Marketplace for easy installation by any GoDaddy user
  • There are currently over 200 apps available in our marketplace
  • Enterprise customers also utilize the GoDaddy Commerce App Marketplace to extend the platform's capabilities
  • For instance, a large retailer has developed a private app that integrates their customer support system with the GoDaddy Dashboard, enabling their support team to access order details and customer information in one place, reducing the need for multiple systems and improving efficiency
  • As the Principal Product Manager for the GoDaddy Commerce App Marketplace, you will be responsible for the features that power our app marketplace
  • This includes OAuth, UI components, app manifest and lifecycle management, secret storage, and the overall developer experience
  • You will work closely with users and third-party developers to understand their needs and translate them into platform capabilities
  • Additionally, you will partner with our Go-To-Market (GTM) and partnerships teams to create functionality that allows developers to bring their innovations to our marketplace
  • You will manage the entire platform that powers the GoDaddy Commerce App Marketplace
  • Your goal will be to deliver features that enable app developers to serve GoDaddy merchants effectively
  • You will collaborate with GTM and partnerships teams to develop new functionalities and unlock new opportunities for developers
  • Engage with customers, app developers, and internal product teams daily to validate product ideas, requirements, and prototypes
  • Partner with engineering and design teams to deliver functionality that delights users and app developers, balancing impact, and engineering costs, and ensuring measurable results
  • Develop the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the GoDaddy Commerce App Marketplace platform
  • Define key success metrics for the platform
  • Collaborate with user researchers to test hypotheses and understand user struggles

Our take

GoDaddy is a leading web hosting company and internet domain registrar helping its 21+ million customers build professional websites, and sell their products and services.

Following an increasing shift online for businesses, GoDaddy has made some strategic moves to harness this market wave. Most significantly, it has gotten ahead of the boom in e-commerce, with its invoicing and payments services. This simultaneously demonstrates a keen commitment to the requirements of its top users (as they were top requested features among its ‘Pro’ customers), and streamlines its services by eliminating the need for third-party programs. It is a smart update demonstrating market sensitivity and good business strategy.

GoDaddy has successfully navigated its reputation for controversy - for the most part - as its marketing and business practices have, in the past, attracted the ire of some commentators. However, this hasn't dented its impressive customer numbers, and it continues to boast an impressive customer base including Roblox, Telegram, and Asana.
