Who you are

  • 5+ years of experience with Investor Relations and an understanding of capital markets
  • Have previous experience working in MarTech or AdTech
  • A strong sense of financial literacy, with an understanding of financial statements
  • Comfort with the principles, requirements, and practices of disclosure in a public company environment
  • Strong experience in Excel
  • Experience building clean and informative presentations for a range of audiences
  • The ability to build relationships with different stakeholders by leveraging your expert communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Are comfortable working directly with senior leaders to plan and advance initiatives in a wide range of areas across an organization
  • Have created communication strategies from the ground up
  • Have worked in a similar role for a fast-growing organization
  • Possess a background in finance and/or communications

What the job involves

  • Directly engage internal and external stakeholders, from our senior leadership team, teams across illumin, buy-side and sell-side analysts, and investors
  • Reporting to the CFO, you’ll support the development and implementation of illumin’s investor relations (IR) strategy, work to support and communicate our sustainability and social impact programs, and collaborate with various stakeholders to build a strong investor communication strategy
  • This key role at illumin will work closely with the CFO and CEO
  • Build, lead, and own illumin’s IR strategy
  • Develop, manage, and execute IR marketing calendars and investor engagements plans
  • Monitor market information to iterate on the IR strategy, policies, and programs as needed
  • Engage and develop strong relationships with the investment community, including both the sell-side and buy-side
  • Conduct shareholder targeting to identify potential new shareholders and plan how to engage these prospects
  • Develop and maintain the investor presentation with updated strategies, messaging, and quarterly financial data
  • Contribute to the preparation, review, and delivery of all earnings materials, quarterly and annual reports, and materials for Board and AGMs
  • Maintain up-to-date briefing materials on earnings, reports, market expectations, and potential questions for senior business leaders in preparation for earnings calls, the Annual General Meeting, and other events
  • Own investor communications, including responding to queries from the financial community as well as institutional and retail shareholders, in addition to managing corporate press releases from end-to-end
  • Analyze sell-side analyst reports and market opinions on the company and provide summaries and analysis to management and internal stakeholders, sharing feedback as needed
  • Prepare monthly IR reports focused on peer monitoring, shareholder ownership analytics for senior management, in addition to ad-hoc reports as requested

Our take

Programmatic advertising has quickly become one of the most important channels for businesses looking to find and convert customers. However, maximising return in the industry is notoriously difficult, which is where Illumin comes in.

Previously known as AcuityAds, the startup focuses on maximising the potential of programmatic advertising while mitigating its major shortcomings. Specifically, that means a fine-tuned machine learning algorithm that utilizes bidding technology to optimize campaigns in real-time. On the other hand, the company prioritises privacy and trust earning long-term partnerships with major brands.

After establishing a strong presence in the Canadian and US markets, the company is looking to pursue international expansion in Europe and Latin America. As it operates in an increasingly saturated market, Illumin will surely have to invest heavily in its central technology to continue to compete, but if its past successes are anything to go by, it certainly remains one to watch.
