Company mission

Multiverse's goal is to break the expensive barrier between education and employment that is holding back companies and people.

Role

Who you are

  • To excel, you’ll need the initiative to drive projects forward, the strategic judgment to focus on key priorities, and a strong willingness to learn from our wider team of marketing, brand, and business colleagues
  • 4+ years of experience in a communications role, or equivalent experience, either in-house or at an agency
  • You can point to the impact of the media results you have delivered and your ability to manage complex relationships across internal and external partners
  • Proven ability to build media relationships built on trust, resulting in impactful coverage
  • Excellent judgment that stems from empathy to understand different perspectives and a commitment to achieving positive outcomes
  • Excellent writing skills - you are proactive in offering to proofread and improve copy across the organizations you’ve worked in
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with C-Suite leaders, providing clear, analytical recommendations even when that means differing opinions in pursuit of common goals
  • Project management skills to collaborate with multiple stakeholders, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of internal projects
  • Passion for the role external communications can play in delivering our mission and scaling our impact

What the job involves

  • Multiverse is looking for a skilled communications professional to lead our external communication programs
  • You’ll be responsible for raising awareness of what we do through the media while maintaining the reputation of one of the most exciting and closely watched scale-ups in the UK
  • This means working proactively to share our story with national and sector publications, collaborating with colleagues to develop strategic campaigns, and amplifying the voices of our learners and clients
  • This role will report directly to the VP of Corporate Affairs, within the CEO Office
  • Lead a program of client partnership announcements, raising visibility for Multiverse and what we do in critical trade press, in partnership with an agency
  • Identify, plan for, and execute communications campaigns for critical calendar moments, events, or Multiverse company milestones. You will collaborate with an agency as necessary but own national media relationships and drive results through this work
  • Partner with social, B2B content, internal communications, and brand marketing colleagues to maximise the impact of integrated campaigns
  • Amplify the diverse voices of Multiverse’s spokespeople, including learners, clients, and C-Suite leadership
  • Provide the perspective of the media and external stakeholders to inform internal decisions around narrative, investment, and company initiatives
  • Adopt a journalist’s mindset within Multiverse, identifying and sharing interesting stories, data trends, and new initiatives externally

Our take

In today's tech-driven workplace, skills like digital marketing, software engineering, product design, and data analysis are pivotal. Traditional pathways to acquiring these skills are evolving, with coding schools like Makers Academy challenging the necessity of a formal Computer Science degree.

Recognizing the need for inclusive pathways, apprenticeships have gained prominence, spurred by government mandates like the 2016 levy. Multiverse (formerly WhiteHat) exemplifies this shift, offering opportunities for all to reskill and thrive in the tech industry.

Embracing a mission of accessibility and innovation, Multiverse's recent strategic moves, including acquiring Californian AI firm, Searchlight and attracting top-tier talent, underscores its commitment to excellence. Partnering with industry giants like Google and Facebook, Multiverse is driving transformative change, democratizing access to tech education.

Diversity & Inclusion at Multiverse

Siobhan Randell headshot

Siobhan Randell (Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion)

  • We want to be a leader in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), so we’re working hard to drive the change we want to see in the world, inside Multiverse.
  • Everything we do in the DEI space is undertaken with the goal of being representative of the geographies in which we operate – and our apprentice community. Gender diversity has been a long-term challenge for the tech world. We're proud that 55% of our UK Team identify as women, this increases to 64% of our Global Leadership Team (director level and above). We're also proud of our thriving LGBTQQIAAP community, comprising 11% of our UK Team.
  • We're committed to improving the diversity of our workforce, at all levels. We continue to invest in early talent through our in-house apprenticeship scheme – something we know is a fantastic route into our organization for exceptional talent from a diversity of backgrounds.
  • Last year we identified improving the diversity of our Global Leadership Team (director level+) internally as an area of focus. Steps that we took included introducing robust DEI monitoring processes, rolling out Inclusive Recruitment Training to all staff involved in the hiring, and launching our first internal, Global Leadership Accelerator program.
  • We’re proud that in the last 12 months, the representation of colleagues from ethnic minority backgrounds at director+ levels, globally, has increased from 6% to 19%. This is good progress but we still have work to do and are committed to building a leadership team that is representative of our colleagues and of the communities we serve.
