Who you are
- B.S., M.S. or PhD in relevant field or 5+ years of industry experience
- Understanding of cross-browser compatibility, progressive enhancement and graceful degradation, responsive design, website performance, and accessibility
- Experience architecting large-scale frontend applications
- Mastery of the foundations of the web: vanilla JS, HTML5, CSS3
- Deep understanding of REST principles and experience working with and implementing backend APIs
- Experience with React/Redux, or similar frameworks
- Experience with documentation, unit and integration testing

- Senior Frontend Engineers at DoorDash help design and build beautiful, intuitive user interfaces for our web applications to create the best delivery experience possible
- Product focused Engineers work at the intersection of product and infrastructure to solve key business problems with elegant technical solutions. You’ll work with both technical and business teams to build features that keep our users top of mind
- We expect Senior Engineers to be able to own projects end-to-end and mentor their junior and mid level peers
- Will report to an Engineering Manager
- Become a product owner for one of our client facing applications
- Write robust, highly tested, well-crafted code that you can be proud of
- Fight for the best customer experience through technical and product decisions

DoorDash was an early entrant into the last-mile restaurant delivery business, which is now crowded with the likes of Uber Eats, Postmates and GrubHub. They offer restaurants an end-to-end delivery platform, generating new business and access to a network of delivery drivers.
To differentiate itself in the market, DoorDash focused on areas with fewer competitors and found success in this untapped market. Other factors, such as the company's targeting of restaurants which many not typically offer a delivery service, also contribute to its profitability. The company made its stock market debut in 2020 with one of the biggest IPOs of the year.
However, in light of increasing discontent around DoorDash's commission structure from restaurants, competition remains fierce. The business recently responded by publishing a transparent fee structure, but the number of options open to restaurants means DoorDash must fight to keep its customers loyal. Despite this, by focusing on consumer retention, logistics and technology, the company is likely able to maintain its existing growth and revenue.
