Role

Who you are

  • Proven experience (at least 5 years) in a leadership role in the security space, with a track record of successfully implementing security programs, strategies and solutions in a complex business environment
  • In-depth knowledge of network security architecture and protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and encryption protocols and/or cloud infrastructure security
  • Expertise in conducting security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability management, with a strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies
  • Proven experience in managing incident response, including handling security incidents, performing forensic analysis, and implementing remediation strategies
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory compliance requirements such as GDPR, NIST, and ISO 27001, with a demonstrated track record of ensuring compliance in previous roles
  • Experience in cloud security, including knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and a solid understanding of cloud security best practices
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • A proactive and strategic mindset, with a demonstrated ability to stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies to proactively mitigate risks and enhance the company's security posture

What the job involves

  • The Director of Security will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all aspects of our company's security program
  • The successful candidate will play a crucial role in safeguarding our organization against physical and cyber threats, ensuring the integrity of our operations, and maintaining a safe environment for our employees and customers
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive security strategy that aligns with the company's goals and objectives
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of two (Infrastructure Security Engineer & Corporate IT Security Engineer)
  • Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to establish and maintain robust information security protocols, including data protection, risk assessments, and incident response
  • Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices
  • Continuously assess and analyze security risks, emerging threats, and vulnerabilities to proactively mitigate potential issues
  • Promote security awareness and training programs for all employees to enhance their understanding of security best practices
  • Manage relationships with security service providers, contractors, and technology vendors to ensure the effectiveness of security solutions
  • Develop and manage the security department budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions that meet security objectives
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including privacy and data protection requirements
  • Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer of Harry’s Inc
  • Leading a team of 2 security engineers (Cloud and IT)
  • Partnering closely with VP of IT & Enterprise Systems and Senior Manager of Engineering, SRE

Harry’s Inc shot to fame in the years after its 2012 launch for developing and selling high quality, affordable men’s shaving and grooming products online. Between then and now, the company has grown tremendously, expanding into major retail stores, and launching three more brands: Women’s shaving products company Flamingo, hair care-focused Headquarters, as well as cat food brand Cat Person.

Though a billion dollar sale to consumer brand corporation Edgewell was surprisingly blocked by the Federal Trade Commission in 2020, Harry’s product and brand diversification actually led to a significant boost in sales.

The blocked sale of the company, while a shock at the time, has proven to be a blessing in disguise. Harry’s has gone on to raise hundreds of millions of dollars, which it has used to expand its portfolio of brands – all in keeping with its aim of becoming a major multi-category consumer packaged goods (CPG) company.
