Role

Who you are

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a relevant field preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of experience with JavaScript and/or Typescript, Nodejs
  • Minimum 7 years of experience with AWS services (Api gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS etc)
  • Core software engineering skills, including the ability to write maintainable, testable and robust code
  • Experience designing and implementing clean APIs following REST or GraphQL concepts for integration of user-facing elements developed by app developers with server side logic
  • Experience in taking product requirements and building scalable, reliable solutions
  • Ability to track the health of our services, identify and fix problems proactively
  • Programming experience with Node.js, JavaScript and/or Typescript including object-oriented design
  • Experience in developing highly scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems using AWS
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Desirable

  • Experience with AWS Serverless services such as Lambda, API Gateway, AppSync or DynamoDB
  • Experience with low-latency, high-availability, and performant APIs
  • Experience with event driven architectures
  • Experience with system and application monitoring, software distribution, patching and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines

What the job involves

  • As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be a key member of the product team, and will work with the Founder / CEO and Engineering Lead
  • You are expected to utilise your experience with architecting, developing and supporting distributed & scalable systems running on AWS with hands-on coding experience in a modern object-oriented language
  • The ideal candidate is expected to show leadership principles including excellent judgement and high standards on software delivery
  • In addition, the candidate is expected to have the ability to dive deep and gather business requirements, drive best practices in the team and deliver results

  • Design, prototype and implement new features end to end
  • Work directly with the Founder / CEO, our Product and Design team
  • Help develop guidelines and best coding practices for our growing dev team
  • See the effects of your work make real-world impact
  • Organise our product design and development workflow, from conception to delivery, using an Agile methodology
  • Be responsible for the full life-cycle of product development
  • Collaborate with product and development teams across multiple projects
  • Manage project scope, backlog and timelines
  • Facilitate regular team meetings: stand-ups, sprint plannings, retros etc
  • Proactively identify and help fix any problems and roadblocks
  • Training, mentoring, and supporting teams to follow agile values, principles, and practices
  • Determining and managing tasks, issues, risks, and action items
  • Monitoring progress and performance and helping teams to make improvements
  • Planning and organising demos and product/system testing
  • Ensuring the proper use of collaborative processes and removing impediments for the team
  • Tracking project processes, deliverables, and financials
  • Preparing and presenting status reports to stakeholders

Our take
