  • We are seeking an experienced Product Analyst to join our Product Analytics & Experimentation Team to partner with product managers and focus on user experience optimization
  • If you are a self-starter and have shown success in using analytics to drive innovation and user engagement, this position is for you!
  • 3+ years of experience in data science and analytics preferably in ecommerce industry, with at least Bachelor's in Mathematics, Science, Statistics, or in a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience
  • Experience with large datasets and proficiency in SQL and another programming language (e.g. R, Python)
  • Experience and/or understanding of the AB testing methodologies + familiarity with data exploration and visualization tools like Tableau
  • Display strong domain knowledge, business acumen, and critical reasoning skills
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present the business value of analysis concisely and clearly and an understanding of stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to perform in a high-pressure, dynamic environment and be comfortable with a high level of ambiguity
  • Curiosity, passion for making an impact, can-do attitude and strong attention to detail

What the job involves

  • As a Data Scientist II, you will support critical business decisions throughout the product development lifecycle that improve the user experience for millions of travelers
  • Your role will involve uncovering customer friction points, hypothesis generation and prioritization, experimentation design, impartial test analysis, and recommendations
  • Apply your knowledge with Python, R, or any other major ML programming language
  • Write code in a way that enables efficient and accurate translation into a data pipeline
  • Conduct hypotheses testing, design and analyze complex A/B tests
  • Frame business challenges as an analytics problem and a concrete set of analytical tasks
  • Pick analytically valid approaches, appropriate in terms of level of effort, favoring iterative delivery that solves for the objective, not the ask
  • Communicate across various levels of the organization, tailoring your messaging to the audience and filtering relevant information
  • Manage stakeholders with frequent communication, expectation management, meeting deadlines, and the backlog

They enable users to access a wide range of services including airline tickets, hotel reservations, car rentals, cruises, vacation packages, and various attractions and services via the world wide web and telephone travel agents. Its primary web businesses include Expedia.com, Hotels.com, Hotwire.com, and Egencia.com.

Between 2021 and 2022, Expedia has been selling and merging a list of its sub-brands in a bid to simplify its operations, including Egencia and Classic Vacations. Due to plummeting share prices, mostly in the case of its sub-brands, Expedia has been leveraging its subsidiaries' customer base and merging them into the company’s core brand. Contrasting this move, Expedia has also been partnering with tech start-ups in a bid to make travel more accessible to underserved groups. What this indicates is Expedia’s shift from buying other travel companies and a move towards enhancing the experience of its preexisting customer base. This move is aiding in a long-term plan for greater long-term traveler loyalty, utilizing Expedia’s vast amounts of data, not just from reviews, but from check-in, cleanliness, communication, cancelations, etc to inform how guests experience a property.
