Role

Who you are

  • We’re looking for someone with an exceptional understanding of the Google Ads and Meta Platforms and proven success working with performance led brands. You will be self-motivated, ambitious, highly analytical, organised and have a growth mindset
  • Comprehensive understanding of Google Ads/Meta channels and how they fit into the wider marketing landscape
  • 8+ years of quality experience marketing with Adwords and Google Shopping
  • Understanding of Search Engine Optimisation
  • Experience in line management and agency management
  • Some experience with other Google marketing channels
  • Proficiency in managing campaigns end to end, from strategy development to delivery and optimisation
  • A highly analytical approach and very comfortable with data/data tools
  • An ability to be data driven whilst working in a creative and entrepreneurial environment
  • An ability to write result orientated copy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic understanding of the greeting card market

Desirable

  • You love sending and receiving greeting cards
  • You have experience using Amplitude, PowerBI, Google Analytics or similar analytics software
  • You’re experienced with other performance channels
  • You have experience with large product catalogues

What the job involves

  • We are looking for an experienced Performance Manager who knows the Google Ads Platform inside out. You’ll be maintaining the Google Ads platform which is our most important channel, challenge what we currently do on our other core channel (Meta), support SEO and help build secondary channels (Tiktok, Twitter, Demand Gen and Affiliates)
  • Reporting into the Head of Performance you will manage the planning, development, management and reporting of thortful’s performance marketing channels and be responsible for the performance and growth as we look to drive sustainable growth in the business. Part of the wider marketing team the Performance Manager role sits within a small Performance team of three so this is a very much hands on role with currently one direct report, another to follow and SEO agency to support them
  • You will be creating and implementing strategies for Always On and Occasion streams
  • Campaign set up, implementation, optimisation and reporting across all active channels
  • Working closely with our Head of Performance to report performance and deliver campaigns in line with performance targets
  • Line managing two direct reports, being responsible for their performance and development
  • Delivering insight led reports to senior management to assist in evolving our marketing approach
  • Briefing and delivering insight to our creative team to help inspire, improve and optimise our products/card content
  • Writing ad copy and working with the relevant team for other creative where required
  • Define and maintain audience and data approaches, providing ongoing strategic recommendations and optimisation

Our take

Thortful is an online marketplace for greetings cards designed by illustrators and photographers. The company was started to combat the lack of creativity and diversity in available greetings cards and has the aim to provide the best place to quickly find the perfect, unique card. In order to support the creatives behind their cards, Thortful pays an industry-leading royalty rate for designs.

Though Moonpig dominates the online greeting card market, accounting for 60% of all UK purchases, only 5% of greetings cards are actually bought online. Thortful hopes to change this by appealing to a younger audience that might previously have forgone sending cards at all due to inconvenience or lack of good choices.

Thortful currently gets over a million monthly website visits. As more people shop online and choose to keep in touch via thoughtful gifts, it is likely to continue to see this grow.
