Who you are

  • You have to talk the talk. Which means you need to be fluent in French and a high level of English
  • You should have at least 2 years of experience in account management as well as finding new customers or upselling to existing ones
  • Very capable to sell on the phone, in virtual or in-person meetings

  • Bringing an industry online is rarely a straight line from A to B. You don’t have to be an acrobat, but you should be able to adapt to fast-changing environments

  • Who doesn’t love to travel? You must be willing to get out there and travel to meet your customers face-to-face for meetings or industry events (around 40% of the time)

  • Knowledge of the air cargo industry, or experience in an online transactional business company (meaning a tech company whose revenue is coming from price per online transaction)

What the job involves

  • As a tech company, numbers are everything. You will have a goal of incremental eBookings, and PO values to achieve. Additionally, you will create an ideal customer portfolio by managing the churn of your customers. You’ll need to activate new customers, protect your existing book of business, and expand revenues amongst existing customers as well
  • How? With digital, phone, and, yes, many in-person meetings and attendance of industry events that show people just how incredible our products can be. Maybe you’ll even give them a sticker
  • Sometimes a handshake just isn’t enough. You own building and managing your pipeline, meaning finding potential leads via business development work (and awesome outreach tools) and taking care of those that arrive at your doorstep until you close the deal. Thus, you will find, reach out, follow up and support customers until they wake up in the middle of the night talking about how amazing WebCargo’s products & team are
  • Since not all companies are created equal, we help you through our processes, list of activities required, and CRM to establish a framework for prioritizing customer engagement ...and then make it happen. Talking about CRM, we like to work tidely so keeping our CRM up-to-date and clean is kind of a big thing here
  • Like doing things at scale? So do we. You’ll help organize group events across customers and prospects to gather several customers together and promote our products
  • Think of any other commercial strategy, discuss and act on it that can help boost the number of deals closed and their engagement. And it generates revenue, which is nice too

Our take

Whilst purchasing a plane ticket online is an easy transaction, booking freight shipments on that very same plane remains a time-consuming, complex task. To remedy this, Spanish-founded WebCargo (which is owned by Freightos) offers a platform with various cargo booking solutions.

Currently deployed by upwards of 10,000 forwarders, the platform supports the pricing and booking of cargo across over 40 airlines. WebCargo continues to bolster its offering, for example with its launch of a feature which enables digital interlining (where one airline sells services to a customer that are provided by another airline).

It is clear that WebCargo is committed to enhancing the value it brings to its clients, that include Panalpina, Hellmann and IAG Cargo. Recently, the company secured a partnership with Wideroe, the largest Nordic airline, and has also collaborated with Chapman Freeborn, a leading aircraft charter company, to bring additional global capacity from their global charter business to its platform.
