- 5+ years of motion design experience in a product setting
- Self directed, solution oriented, and ability to work autonomously
- Thrives in a fast-paced (sometimes ambiguous) environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to use motion to narrate user experience based on users behaviors, needs and emotion
- Exceptional process thinker, and problem solver
- Demonstrates a strong foundation in basic animation principles, often related to physics and patterns
- Master in After effects and Figma
- Knowledgeable about Lottie Files
- Proficient in Photoshop and Illustrator
- Low ego, collaborative, positive attitude, and open-minded
Desirable
- Experience with other animation apps such as Rive and Principle
- Demonstration of inclusive motion principles and interest in accessibility best practices
- Exceptional collaboration skills and ability to partner with cross-functional partners, to drive towards successful outcomes
What the job involves
- As a Motion Designer you’ll contribute to our mission, vision and strategy by creating stunning visuals and scalable motion systems that simplify complex interactions and solve challenging design problems
- You’ll work closely with Product Designers, UX Researchers, Product Managers, and Engineering teams to help build simple, easy-to-use systems that express the Coinbase brand and values
- Develop a user-centric Motion Design System that scales to both our mobile & web products
- Embed within product teams and provide hands-on support to up-level craft, improve XFN efficiencies and drive system wide adoption
- Create, maintain, and distribute easy to use components and documentation for our design system
- QA work to ensure designs and creative assets are polished and ready for implementation handoff or final delivery
Our take
Coinbase allows its users to create their own crypto wallets and start buying or selling cryptocurrencies by connecting with their bank accounts. It also provides a series of merchant payment processing systems and tools that support transactions with many popular websites.
Coinbase has recently made a big push to broaden its services away from consumers and they want to cater services from institutional investors.
Coinbase currently offers one of the largest selection of cryptocurrency assets - over 10,000 but does not allow trading on all of them. The company wisely keeps such offerings to the most stable assets however, the list is always expanding. Coinbase see a much wider adoption of cryptocurrency and tokens in the future, and plan to expand potentially to millions in the future. It speaks volumes to Coinbase's goals of wider global adoption that former UK Finance Minister George Osborne is now an Advisor at the company.
Coinbase's lofty ambitions paid off in it being the first crypto listing on the NASDAQ. The company has weathered several bull and bear runs in the cryptocurrency industry through diversification of its offerings, including wallet-as-a-service technology for crypto platforms, and has acquired healthy coffers of cryptocurrency assets. The aim is to eventually operate independently of the volatility surrounding cryptocurrencies.
