Who you are

  • Prior experience of leading a world-beating UX team
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Design for Interactive Media, or equivalent
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in UX Design + 7 years of experience in managing CX-led product development teams
  • Strong communication, presentation and collaboration skills; able to articulate the rationale behind decisions not only to the UX and Product teams, but executive leaders as well
  • Experience in co-creating products with customers by designing proof-of-concepts and minimum viable data products (MVPs) using human-centric design principles and rapid prototyping (Lean UX and Design Thinking)
  • Appreciation and understanding of region specific regulatory, business and technology constraints
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Proven track-record in running "Design Thinking" workshops—collaborating cross-functionally with industry verticals, regional leads, and end-users to ensure optimal design
  • Proven track-record for developing net-new digital products across the product development lifecycle, from concept to commercialization
  • Demonstrated track record in growing and nurturing a happy and dynamic design team
  • Ability to lead with empathy, both for users and the team

  • Deep knowledge of the payments domain generally and commercial payments specifically

  • Lead this team in the evolution of our product experiences, ensuring that users remain at the heart of all design decisions. Our aim is for Mastercard to become a truly design-led organization
  • You will nurture our rapidly growing, highly innovative Data and Services Product Development team in the EU
  • You’ll be responsible for guiding the careers of your team members, working closely with each of them to help them realize their full potential
  • Explore the “art-of-the-possible”
  • Work on future state conceptual designs, driving experimentation that improves the quality of product design overall
  • Help define the next generation of data and data-driven products—and through doing so, help shape the future of Mastercard and its growth
  • Serve as an expert and thought partner for product strategy, user and market fit
  • Advocate for the users' perspective at all times
  • Active oversight of design work, from user research, through ideation, to delivery
  • Locate the “so what?” of client and user feedback to provide creative input into design and re-design, across the product portfolio
  • Work closely with key partners from Product and Engineering to drive delightful and highly usable experiences
  • Collaborate actively with Product Managers and Engineers to plan roadmaps, gather requirements, and structure work
  • Ensure that designs deliver an optimal balance of business objectives & user engagement
  • Work closely with our technology teams, leveraging modern presentation layer practices and technologies such as adaptive/responsive web and design tokens
  • Liaise with regional and country teams to ensure that designs are reflective of the diversity of needs for a global user base
  • Build out the EU CX and product team
  • Keep designers (and cross-functional peers) focused on product and business objectives, so that they're designing for customer impact
  • Drive improvements to the product development organization by exploring new approaches and applying industry best practices
