Who you are

  • Have experience as an analyst in a commercial or risk management environment (ideally in energy or a related field)
  • Have analytical and numerical capabilities, demonstrated either through a degree in a numerical or science based subject or equivalent work experience
  • Have the ability to cut through the noise and provide actionable insight and pragmatic solutions based on a variety of data and information
  • Ideally have experience using BigQuery, Python or equivalent languages to build robust analysis and reporting, or have a strong desire to learn
  • Are confident managing and manipulating large datasets with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Are willing to take the initiative in addressing complex challenges. You should thrive off direct responsibility

What the job involves

  • You’ll work with our Renewable Energy Ops and Analytics team to deliver innovative approaches to risk management for our portfolio of renewable generators.
  • You’ll lead on analysing out turn performance and proposing and implementing mechanisms to improve commercial performance and reduce risk within our Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) business unit. You will be led by the data - whilst thinking creatively to solve challenging problems
  • Developing and operating accurate and timely reporting on PPA business unit performance
  • Providing insight and analysis into performance data to drive meaningful business decision making
  • Performing analysis of the risks and costs associated with renewable energy procurement to drive improvements in valuation and risk management performance
  • Performing regular analysis of renewable energy data to support the accurate pricing and forecasting of PPA contracts
  • Working with the wider Energy Portfolio Management function to define and implement cost effective risk management approaches to deliver PPA profitability and reduce risk
  • Providing commercial and analytical support to the wider Renewable Energy team as required

In 2020, OVO completed the acquisition of SSE Energy Services' retail arm for £500 million, meaning that the challenger brand now has around 4 million customers in the UK.

While helping Ovo members halve their carbon footprints, the company is also working towards becoming a net zero carbon business by 2035. The challenges ahead for the company include encouraging consumer behaviour change, shifting towards subscription models for home energy use.
