Who you are

  • We’re looking for someone who possesses strong organizational skills with a passion for analytical details, and thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

  • 3 - 5+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Experience with third-party financial audits
  • Public accounting experience plus industry experience with in least one of the following industries preferred: i) real estate investments; ii) credit products; iii) mortgages, or; iv) early stage VC-backed startups (especially PropTech or FinTech)
  • Advanced proficiency with Netsuite, QuickBooks, and spreadsheets (Excel / Google Sheets)
  • Experience with ERP systems migrations preferred
  • Execution-oriented “one-team” mindset with motivation and scrappiness to achieve objectives under pressure with limited resources
  • Excellent communication skills to various audiences (written + verbal)
  • Ability to multi-task with exceptional self-directed time management & prioritization

What the job involves

  • We're seeking a driven and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to play an integral role in our growing organization’s Accounting function
  • In this role, you will be a key contributor in designing, building and managing an institutional end-to-end accounting process, including monthly close, external audit, tax & compliance, financial reporting and systems implementations
  • Support Backflip’s accounting function for the parent entity + subsidiaries
  • Manage ongoing responsibilities to ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies and reporting requirements
  • Perform full cycle general ledger process including: i) cash/treasury; ii) AP/AR; ii) journal entries; iii) account reconciliations, and; iv) variance analysis
  • Assist with process improvement and system implementations to support the company's growth
  • Monitor compliance with third-party credit agreements
  • Participate in 3rd-party annual financial audits
  • Act as a business partner; ‘think like an owner’ to establish and instill best practices across the organization
  • Manage relationships with external partners (vendors, auditors, credit facilities)
  • Assist with ad hoc projects, research, and software improvements within real estate, technology, & lending industries
