Who you are

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in engineering management (but we always value aptitude over experience)
  • Strong technical skills to translate business needs into engineering opportunities to drive the strategic agenda in a continuous delivery environment
  • Hold a strong understanding of the cloud in industry/user and enterprise trends, with the ability to translate and leverage internal tools and systems to drive innovative solutions, resulting in outstanding technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to partner closely with the engineering team and implement appropriate tools and practices that balance quality with productivity
  • Experience managing one or more engineering teams responsible for a key strategic area
  • Strong executive presentation and communication skills
  • Excellent influencing and problem-resolution skills
  • Positive and flexible attitude to work in a fast-paced environment and a willingness to embrace new initiatives

What the job involves

  • We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager. This role is responsible for defining, implementing, training, and executing against our engineering strategy, creating processes, and building tools within Fanatics Betting and Gaming
  • The Senior Engineering Manager is an expert technologist with experience in managing a team or teams of engineers that can deliver business results and ship high-quality software with customer-facing products and internal platforms
  • Recruit and build out a best-in-class Engineering organization to build scaled distributed systems and customer-facing features that are high quality and highly reliable
  • Manage one or more development teams
  • Develop a deep understanding of Fanatics Betting & Gaming and the opportunities for our customers
  • Identify technology gaps and opportunities, taking ownership for the technology roadmap within the space and ensuring appropriate engineering investments in the underlying platform
  • Drive predictability and reliability through Operational Excellence and create clear objectives and transparency through the use of data and KPIs
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, inside and outside of Engineering, and collaborate with leaders to prioritize technical efforts and provide input on product features and capabilities
  • Provide leadership and technical expertise within the engineering organization
  • Be a mentor and role model for engineering
  • Remain current on technology and trends in engineering
  • Must be open to occasional travel to events and Bet Fanatics offices for various offsite and team meetings

As well as the Fanatics online store, it runs the online stores of dozens of teams and leagues including the MLB, NHL, NBA, and NASCAR. Looking ahead, while its commerce business remains its biggest source of revenue for now, Fanatics has expanded into livestreamed shopping around collectibles and trading cards, acquiring Tops and hiring Snap and Alphabet executive to launch this new business. It also has an NFT arm in Candy Digital, of which it’s the majority owner, as well as a fledgling betting and gaming division.
