  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
  • Experience with end to end product delivery
  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
  • Experience managing technical products or online services
  • Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning

Desirable

  • Experience in building and driving adoption of new tools
  • Master's degree

What the job involves

  • This role will help define our next set of transporter facing products focused on providing evolutionary and revolutionary concepts for their arrival at delivery stations, package pickup and package-to-vehicle loading workflows
  • This will focus on the transporter's start of work and end of work experiences across multiple business types (same-day, grocery, speciality deliveries, pickups)
  • Our mission is to ensure every package is delivered at the right time, at the right location, in the right way according to the customer's preference
  • Our transporters deliver in many different use cases, ranging from single-family home, apartment units behind a locked gate, college campus, to countryside residences worldwide
  • This role ensures that the transporter's day/work shift starts off in the best possible way that is smooth and intuitive thereby setting them up for success when they go on the road
  • To succeed, it will be done through identifying new methods and technology (software and hardware) of helping them be more efficient, productive and successful in each step of their start of work/day tasks and easy end of work/day tasks
  • This in turn helps Amazon achieve promise to the customers
  • This role is inherently cross-functional—this leader will work closely with engineering, program management, design, operations, finance, legal, business development, customer service, and executive teams to bring products to market, develop and grow business opportunities, and enhance our existing products and features
  • A successful candidate will be highly analytical, resourceful, customer-focused, team oriented, and will have an ability to work independently under time constraints to meet deadlines
  • The leader will have a proven track record in taking on end-to-end ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment
  • This role requires autonomy and an ability to deliver results, often within the ambiguity of building a v1 product
  • You will need to work efficiently to build the right things with limited guidance, raising the bar to create an amazing experience for our transporters
  • Playing a key role in the Transporter Experience team, as a Product Manager, you will be responsible for the product definition and feature roadmap for multiple projects
  • You will work closely with multiple stakeholder/business teams, your engineering and UX/UI counterparts to identify business requirements, measuring and sharing progress against goals, and championing adoption with our customers through in-field research and testing
  • You will bring your experience of defining and releasing similar successful products at scale, preferably in consumer or industrial verticals

Our take

Amazon is the world's largest online retailer, and is well-known for its disruption of well-established industries. The company is present in numerous verticals, including cloud computing with Amazon Web Services, AI with its range of Alexa devices and a global marketplace more commonly referred to as 'the everything store'. Acquisitions include Ring, Twitch, Whole Foods Market, and IMDb.

More recently, Amazon has been focused on leading the "third wave in digital advertising". Many businesses are now shifting ad dollars to retailers, which before would have been spent with online media platforms. Amazon's seen great success in the space, with its revenue from advertising now higher than its Amazon Prime membership scheme, audiobooks and digital music combined. This growth is particularly impressive considering its digital ad rivals (like Snap, Alphabet, and Meta) have suffered declines due to wider macroeconomic factors and Apple's iOS privacy changes.

Despite its dominant market position, Amazon will continue to be challenged over the next decade, including sustaining AWS's cloud dominance in the face of Google and Microsoft. On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
