Who you are

  • The ideal candidate is a data-driven events marketer who brings directly relevant experience in strategizing on and building events programming
  • Proven track record in developing multichannel event programming to drive well defined business goals
  • Keen understanding of business goals and how to create events that drive these goals for specific audience segments
  • Experience developing and managing event budgets while creating impactful event experiences
  • Experience working within defined marketing budgets and resources
  • Strong project management skills, particularly in a rapidly changing environment

  • This role will require domestic and international travel
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent years of experience

What the job involves

  • We are looking for a Manager, SMC Marketing to join Snap Inc’s global Small and Medium Customers (SMC) organization
  • This role will produce multi-channel events programs with the goal of driving advertiser acquisition and revenue growth and retention
  • The role will build global events and closely align with cross-functional teams (Revenue, Business Development), while collaborating with external and internal teams to bring events to life
  • Work cross-functionally to develop end-to-end events strategy for various audiences, with the goal of driving revenue growth and other business KPIs
  • Work closely with sales and revenue teams to determine appropriate event audiences based on business goals and tailor marketing and strategy to each audience
  • Manage vendors and internal stakeholders to produce events ranging from in-person tent poles to virtual events and gatherings
  • Closely collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Global Brand Experience to produce events focused on business results
  • Craft overall narrative strategy–including presentations, scripts, organizing client panels, videos–to position Snap’s advertising solutions at SMC events
  • Collaborate with lifecycle marketing and data science in order to ensure alignment of post-event and measurement strategy
  • Support content creation for marketing materials to support events including presentation decks, print material swag, event branding materials
  • Own project management and contract negotiations related to event production
  • Travel often to oversee events, sometimes internationally
  • Stay ahead of industry trends in order innovate on events marketing

Our take

Snap is the social media giant that owns Snapchat, a social media mobile app released in 2011. Created to serve as a more emotive communication form than texting, the app has gained mass popularity, reaching upwards of 400 million daily users worldwide.

After rejecting a billion dollar acquisition from Meta (then Facebook) in 2013, Snap has found itself in competition with the social media giant, particularly with Instagram. Despite this, the company has marked a place for itself in the ever competitive social media space through developing features like a Discover tab, augmented reality lenses, in-app games, ads and monetisation options, as well as launching its paid service, Snapchat+.

Snap has so far not earned an annual profit since going public in 2017, but as Snapchat's user base has continually increased it has nearly closed the gap. Like other tech companies it suffered in late 2022 due to a surprise drop in advertising revenue, but has been rebuilding to its former trajectory since then. Given Snapchat's lasting popularity amongst young people, further success appears likely.
