Company mission

Fi's mission is to build products that make dogs' lives better.

Role

Who you are

  • The ideal candidate will be genuinely passionate about people (and dogs!), a proactive problem-solver, and eager to learn more about various aspects of People Operations
  • 1-2 years’ experience (internships included) in people operations, HR administration, or similar; preferably in a tech startup environment
  • Basic understanding of HR processes and best practices
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly process- and detail-oriented
  • People-first mindset: Empathy comes naturally to you and you genuinely care about the employee experience
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Slack, and familiarity with PEO administration are a plus

What the job involves

  • We are seeking a motivated People Operations Associate to join our growing People team. This role will report to our People Operations Manager.
  • You will play an essential role in ensuring that our day-to-day processes run smoothly and that each member of the Fi Pack has access to the company information, resources, and support they need.
  • Onboarding and Offboarding: Welcome new hires, ensure timely completion of on/offboarding paperwork, and support internal workflows to ensure a smooth and positive transition for new hires and departing employees alike
  • Employee Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date data in our PEO platform (Justworks) and complete employment verification requests as needed
  • Employee Benefits: Assist with benefit enrollment and administration, direct employees to the appropriate resources, and help to ensure that internal reference materials and documentation are kept accurate and up-to-date
  • HR Compliance: Help to maintain and update company policies and procedures, ensuring that our employee handbook remains compliant with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Payroll and Tax Support: Assist with payroll administration and the maintenance of state UI tax accounts, coordinating with our PEO as needed
  • Trusted Point of Contact: Become the team’s go-to for questions about company policies, benefits, and payroll. Your inbox is a safe space where there are no stupid questions, and you’re ready to redirect employees to the appropriate resources or help them track down the answers
  • Special Projects: Support on ad hoc people ops projects and initiatives such as annual performance reviews, harassment prevention training, and open enrollment

Our take

For the last three decades, dog collars and leashes have remained largely unchanged. Fi was set up by a product team drawn from the ranks of Uber, Square, and Google to disrupt the stagnant dog collar space.

Fi's tracking collars have not only saved countless dogs' lives by providing real-time escape notifications, but they also enable dog owners to monitor their pets' health. Its health and sleep monitoring set it apart from rival products such as the Apple AirTag. As Fi utilizes AT&T signal, it also boasts a tracking range that far exceeds that of its competitors.

The company saw a significant increase in value through its lucrative partnership with PetSmart. These sorts of partnerships and overall brand recognition will fuel the sort of expansion Fi aims to achieve.
