Role

Who you are

  • Possess a strong understanding of US GAAP and a working knowledge of ASC 606. Be capable of determining the appropriate accounting entry for commonly occurring circumstances in accordance with the Company’s accounting policy
  • 4+ years of related accounting experience at a Big 4 public accounting firm or in a fast-paced startup/fintech environment
  • A BA/BS Degree with a concentration in Accounting, Business, Economics and/or Finance (CPA preferred)
  • Working knowledge of ASC 606, US GAAP and SOX compliance
  • A track record of driving strong financial performance and accountability
  • Advanced knowledge of Google Sheets
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and an ability to drive cross functional projects
  • Ability to multi-task, thrive in the face of ambiguity and excel in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving organization

  • Are proficient with NetSuite
  • Are familiar with SQL, Google Apps Script, or no-code process automation tools

What the job involves

  • The Senior Revenue Accountant role presents a unique opportunity to build out efficient operations for newly developing business lines at a high growth leader in the digital asset space
  • This person will play a critical role in month end close activities, with specific focus on fee calculations and billing operations, and will help us build for scale through the design, documentation and implementation of policies, processes and controls related to revenue
  • Partner closely with internal teams to facilitate a timely and efficient month-end close process, with specific focus on fee calculations and billing operations for multiple lines of business
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for coordinating fee calculations and settlements with external business partners
  • Proactively suggest and implement improvements to the design and execution of fee calculations, including performing system testing and implementing controls to ensure the integrity of new solutions prior to full deployment
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as they arise, while proactively communicating the impact to other in-progress projects and recurring responsibilities
  • Promote a positive working environment through proper listening, speaking, and empathy with team members. Embody and act as a role model for our culture pillars
  • Contribute to shared consciousness at the company by actively asking questions and solving problems in public forums, while intentionally documenting solutions and conclusions for the benefit of others
  • Position yourself as the go-to point of contact for the product and data science team team for all matters related to client fees
  • Assist with internal and external audit processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting
  • Understand the strategy of Anchorage and contribute to planning and goal-setting exercises for the team
  • Investigate and resolve variances resulting from flux analysis and account reconciliations
  • Apply advanced skills in Google Sheets to efficiently and reliably work with large data sets
  • Resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways, suggesting different potential approaches and adapting to new circumstances rapidly

This would mean an impressive expansion of their already substantial domain of influence in a rapidly developing sector.

In early 2021, Anchorage secured a national trust charter from the OCC, making it the first-ever federally chartered digital asset bank. This is significant, as it provides a good barrier to entry for other companies looking to compete in this space, and gives legacy institutions the ability to offer digital asset access to their clients. Though it has raised considerable funding in the past, crypto instability and wider macroeconomic challenges forced Anchorage to cut 20% of its staff in March 2023. 2022 clampdowns on customer due dilligence internal controllers added to the pressure on Anchorage to streamline and refocus its efforts.
