Who you are
- Are you an experienced Software Engineer looking to apply your skills and make a significant impact?
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fields (or equivalent experience)
- 8+ years of experience in software development
- Fluency in Java and Scala, with a good grasp of distributed systems and the ability to communicate design ideas effectively
- Expertise in dealing with horizontal scale, high availability, concurrency, profiling, deployment, upgrade/migration, production support, and other SaaS enterprise software issues
- Proficiency in major development tools and processes, such as source control, requirement spec, design and design review, unit test, system test, performance test, etc
- Experience with authentication standards such as SSO, Multi-Factor, Delegated Authentication, x509, SAML, OAuth
- Knowledge of Scala and MySql
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, SDLC, and Agile methodologies
Desirable
- Familiarity with SaaS security infrastructure

- We are the Authentication team within the Identity & Access Management organization at Workday
- Our mission is to build and maintain frameworks and services for secured and adaptive identity and access management
- We support a variety of authentication standards to provide a seamless experience to all users and services
- Architect, design, implement, test, and deploy robust services with a focus on security
- Drive continuous improvement to ensure a flawless service
- Collaborate closely with product managers to understand customer needs and translate them into software requirements
- Deliver high-quality features on time and within budget
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on software development techniques
- Stay up to date with evolving technologies and contribute to bringing in new technologies
- You will be involved in all aspects of software development, including designing, coding, testing, deploying, and providing support for our customer-facing software solutions
- You will collaborate with product management and development teams to define and drive solutions and track timelines

The company uses a single database for workforce management and financial management to offer integration and optimize business intelligence across companies. It has added to the packages and tools it offers over the years, providing analytic options that allow companies to combine third-party data with information collected by Workday.
Workday has acquired and paired up with many other companies to keep expanding its offering. In 2021, it purchased the employee feedback platform Peakon in response to the growing need for managers to be able to survey workers and collect satisfaction data without face-to-face meetings. The company has also bought and developed many financial tools and HR management tools.
The company’s goal is to provide end-to-end back office services and while there are other providers, such as UKG Pro and Ceridian HCM, Workday’s broad offering helps them to stand out. Though it faced a tough global market in 2023 and has shed some of its headcount, Workday has seen a 6.5% gain in value in the first quarter of 2024. It is now focusing on growth and developing the AI capabilities of its platform. .
