Role

Who you are

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Data/Information Science, Mathematics, or a related field
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in a similar position
  • Working knowledge of Python
  • Experience working with relational data via Oracle, Postgres, and/or SQL Server
  • Experience with test, verification, validation and productization of algorithms
  • Ability to thrive in an Agile Scrum environment
  • A desire and curiosity about learning innovative technologies

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of Oracle, Python, Pandas and Sas
  • Knowledge of the energy industry, markets, and terminology
  • Experience in a DevOps environment with CI/CD tools
  • Experience working with big data systems like Snowflake, Redshift, OneLake, or other lake/lakehouse architectures
  • Familiarity with data statistics and probability theory

What the job involves

  • We are seeking an experienced Data QA Engineer to join our PowerSIMM team in Boulder, Colorado
  • As a Data QA Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the integrity and reliability of our data
  • You will work closely with our data engineers, analysts, and developers to write, execute, and maintain tests and scripts focused on our analytics code and processes
  • Your efforts will ensure that our data remains trustworthy, accurate, and aligned with business requirements
  • Test Development & Execution: Write, execute, and maintain comprehensive tests and scripts designed to validate our analytics code, data pipelines, and processes
  • Test Automation: Implement and maintain automated testing frameworks to streamline data quality assurance processes
  • Data Validation: Develop and perform automated and manual tests to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across all systems
  • Code Review: Collaborate with other data QA engineers and data engineers to review and improve data-related code
  • Documentation: Document test cases, procedures, and results to ensure a clear record of data validation efforts
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, provide feedback, and contribute to overall data quality improvements
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest QA methodologies and tools, and continuously seek to improve testing strategies and processes
