Role

Who you are

  • You have at least 8 years of mixed-method research experience in two or more commercial environments, preferably in a fast-paced technology or internet-based company with a global set-up
  • Having at least 3 years of experience leading (international) research for an entire product area and collaborating directly with product leadership is a strong advantage
  • You excel in applying your diverse qualitative and quantitative methods portfolio to strategic and business-critical questions
  • You have strong commercial awareness, connecting user insights to business outcomes and influencing teams accustomed to business metrics
  • You're adept at distilling complex ideas and creating valuable assets for product and design, including frameworks, use cases, design principles, scenarios, and personas
  • You're an excellent communicator, adapting your style to diverse audiences and can build strong relationships with your peers and key decision-makers

What the job involves

  • We’re looking for a Senior UX Researcher who can effectively balance user-centred and business aspects while negotiating between
  • You'll play a key role in understanding and translating customers' needs into actionable insights that fuel business growth
  • Every day, tens of millions of people across the world use Bolt's ride-hailing service to move around
  • As the research lead in the Ride-hailing team, you'll be responsible for leading all global user research related to Riders and/or Drivers, which is critical to the business's success
  • UX Researchers at Bolt deliver critical user insights to unlock business outcomes
  • You’ll investigate problems that require a deep understanding of the business and a holistic research approach, blending user insights with competitor, market and industry insights
  • The scope of research requires rigorous mixed-methods user research, including remote interviews, field visits, surveys, competitor benchmarks, and A/B testing across domains and verticals
  • Regularly proposing user research investigations to uncover new business opportunities
  • Helping teams prioritise research needs aligned with their business goals and identifying new business opportunities
  • Being responsible for gaining leadership buy-in by presenting findings, connecting research insights to business outcomes, and quantifying value at the product leadership level
  • Translating customer insights into quantifiable business opportunities and delivering actionable insights to diverse audiences, from product peers to senior leadership
  • Establishing and advocating for the UX research function and collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Empowering and supporting product managers and designers to conduct research activities and collaborate closely with other UXR peers

Bolt is another company in the competitive ride-sharing market that's trying to take market share away from Uber in London and Europe more broadly. They operate in 100 cities and have over 25 million customers

Their strategy is to focus on markets where Uber used to have a monopoly and then they come in with a better offering for drivers

Bolt has the ability to grow aggressively for now as they're well financed. They face a similar to challenge to Uber in that no company in this space has established a profitable business model that isn't propped up by investors with deep pockets. Creating a sustainable model that's better for drivers than Uber is the way Bolt can win
