What the job involves

  • We're looking for someone to help scale DoorDash's next billion dollar business, DashMart. The DashMart team is focused on building a new type of convenience store, offering household essentials, groceries and local restaurant favorites to our customers' doorsteps
  • You will be a core team member of our Labor Operations team for DashMart
  • You will focus on enabling our business to grow by executing on our strategic roadmap to drive labor efficiency at the market level across the DashMart business
  • You will dive into analyzing operations data, deploying strategic workflow design, and facilitating internal processes related to Labor for our field operations teams
  • You will report into a Manager within the New Business Verticals organization
  • Build. You'll have your fingerprints all over DoorDash's next big business. You'll launch, get 1% better every day, and scale something completely new. This means everything from high-level strategy to minute operational details
  • Strategize. From fundamentals, you'll develop the strategy for best serving our customers
  • Analyze. You'll assess the operational and financial impacts of your decisions, and iterate based on data
  • Lead. You'll work with multiple teams, including engineering, product, design, operations, finance, and marketing to build this new line of business for DoorDash

DoorDash was an early entrant into the last-mile restaurant delivery business, which is now crowded with the likes of Uber Eats, Postmates and GrubHub. They offer restaurants an end-to-end delivery platform, generating new business and access to a network of delivery drivers.

To differentiate itself in the market, DoorDash focused on areas with fewer competitors and found success in this untapped market. Other factors, such as the company's targeting of restaurants which many not typically offer a delivery service, also contribute to its profitability. The company made its stock market debut in 2020 with one of the biggest IPOs of the year.

However, in light of increasing discontent around DoorDash's commission structure from restaurants, competition remains fierce. The business recently responded by publishing a transparent fee structure, but the number of options open to restaurants means DoorDash must fight to keep its customers loyal. Despite this, by focusing on consumer retention, logistics and technology, the company is likely able to maintain its existing growth and revenue.
