Role

Who you are

  • At least 5 years in full-time software development, of which 2+ years of experience in shipping React Native apps
  • Experience with Typescript and React Native
  • Ability to write high-performance, reusable, and fully tested code
  • Experience in implementation and improvement of mobile accessibility
  • Experience in transforming high-level business requirements into technical specifications
  • Experience with the development of Android and/or iOS applications is a plus
  • You have excellent English written and verbal communication skills and can confidently discuss design decisions at all levels

What the job involves

  • We are expanding our Mobile App team to be able to bring all the web features our students already love to their favorite mobile devices
  • In this role, you’ll collaborate with our Mobile team to plan, build, scale and maintain our mobile app
  • That means participating in achieving our mobile expansion roadmap while maintaining high performance, robustness and excellence in code quality
  • You won’t be just coding and reviewing code every day
  • You’ll also be a part of our processes that help us shape the product experience and ultimately turn ideas into reality through your engineering skills
  • We work in two-week sprints where all developers collaborate with the Product Trio (Product Manager, Designer & Engineering Manager) to design and verify specifications whenever possible
  • Using Typescript in a React Native application with React Query
  • Shipping new functionalities bi-weekly for a continuously changing product
  • Contributing your knowledge to the design, analysis, development and testing of mobile applications
  • Communicating with RESTful APIs to interact with our backend
  • Working with a Product Manager and Engineering Manager to refine high-level stories before they are presented to your team
  • Participating in code reviews and providing feedback to other developers to ensure code quality
  • Writing clean, efficient, tested and maintainable code that adheres to established coding standards

The founders of Studocu have created a platform that allows students to share notes, resources, and study materials, that holds materials from thousands of universities across the world.

With 60 million users every month accessing the platform, there is undeniable demand for Studocu's services. Much of the company's popularity may be ascribed to its freemium model, which keeps 80% of its content free to access, reserving the top rated 20% for premium account holders. Interestingly, premium accounts do not necessarily require payment, as users can earn 14 days of full premium access for uploading their own study materials.

Studocu has seen impressive investment, which fuelled the expansion of its presence in the US and the wider world - with its resources now covering institutions in over 100 countries. The company's acquisition of Studybees, its German counterpart, will enable it to accelerate growth in the German market, which has been a key area and hence a promising target for securing further success.
