Company mission

Simplifying global commerce has been our mission from day one.

Role

Who you are

  • Experience in frontend web technologies, demonstrating proficiency and a deep understanding of the frontend ecosystem across various product teams
  • Critical thinking skills, with the ability to anticipate potential problems and plan for different stages of solution lifecycles
  • Excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on engaging the right stakeholders, balancing diverse needs, and collaborating across engineering teams
  • A strong sense of motivation and commitment to long-term goals, paired with an eagerness for ongoing personal and professional development

What the job involves

  • In our Engineering department we solve one of the biggest challenges of global logistics and supply chain management: reducing the industry's high complexity with a digital and sustainable approach. We architect creative solutions that drive efficiency and innovation
  • As a Senior Frontend Engineer (f/m/d) with the UI Platform team at Forto, you'll join an innovative engineering group focused on developing software, systems, and processes to boost our productivity in creating web applications
  • You'll collaborate within a small yet influential team of platform engineers, who work on constructing reusable solutions in the form of libraries, to offer architectural recommendations, tooling, and deployment systems
  • Additionally, you’ll closely collaborate with designers and contribute to building a robust design system
  • Develop and maintain internal libraries and developer tools that enhance our product development speed and efficiency
  • Actively collaborate with web product teams, understanding stakeholder needs to devise long-lasting solutions
  • Offer expert advice on product architecture, including language practices, library selection, and overall design, spreading this knowledge throughout the engineering team
  • Lead the adoption of engineering best practices, promoting standards through various channels such as tech talks, code reviews, and mentorship programs
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues across multiple systems, designing comprehensive end-to-end solutions
  • Uphold a user-centric approach, prioritizing the needs of both internal and external users in all developments
  • Coordinate effectively across different engineering teams, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration
  • Independently manage projects, from conception to completion, estimating realistic timelines and proactively filling knowledge gaps through continuous learning

Our take

Logistics is developing into a paperless digitised industry. The market is expected to grow during the next few years, with digitisation continuing to be one of the key drivers supporting growth by reducing manual processes. Digital freight forwarding carries major benefits, including instant quotes, transparent pricing, comparison of rates and carriers, tracking, easy documentation and more.

Forto is a provider of digitised freight forwarding and supply chain solutions, offering a single platform for managing the journey of a shipping container from origin to destination - a task long-handled with pen, paper and post-it notes. With supply chains strained by shifting consumption patterns and a steep economic recovery, Forto's freight management system can be key for clients to maximise visibility and flexibility of shipments, empowering customers with clearer insights.

Forto's larger clients include online furniture retailer Home 24 and German supermarket chain Edeka. The company's 2022 funding was invested in international expansion, whilst a partnership with climate action tech startup Cozero cemented Forto's ambitions to reduce its carbon footprint across its operations.
