Company mission

To help everyone, anywhere create their feeling of home.

Role

Who you are

  • We are looking for a passionate Back End Software Engineer to join the Inbound Order Management team
  • If you love to solve real business problems at scale, in a fast-paced, high growth, and agile environment, this is the role for you
  • Excellent design and architectural skills with strong fundamentals in system design, data structures and algorithms (5+ years or equivalent track-record)
  • Experience as a full stack, full lifecycle software engineer and deep understanding of backend systems and a modern programming language (such as Python, Java, JavaScript, PHP, C#, Scala, GO, or others)
  • Capability to collaborate with cross functional teams in a dynamic fast paced environment with an inclusive, adaptable and persuasive communication style
  • Result oriented mindset with the ability to quickly translate business requirements into working features
  • Proficient in effective troubleshooting and issue resolution techniques

What the job involves

  • Inbound Order Management team is responsible for the planning, movement, and tracking of goods from foreign factories to domestic warehouses. Our job starts once a supplier is ready to place an order from one of their factories and it doesn’t end until those goods are delivered to a fulfillment center
  • Through deep integrations into the supply chain, automation, and exception handling we are able to provide world-class service and visibility to our suppliers. Our efforts allow them to focus on their core business while we worry about all the complexities involved in getting their goods imported
  • We aim to perfect and scale our offerings cost-effectively through technology. Are you interested in building technology for the real world where anything can happen (container shortages, record high ocean rates, 1800+ containers fall into the ocean in bad weather, etc.)? You never know what will happen next!
  • In this role you will be working with individuals inside and outside your immediate team to build features for our platform to provide fulfillment information to Wayfair
  • The individual will need to collaborate with multiple teams to build complex system interactions and integrations. As part of our team, you will be solving complex problems that have a direct impact on our supply chain operations and end-customers
  • Design, develop, operate, and maintain cutting-edge solutions which allow for reuse and extensibility while still solving the primary problem at scale
  • Build solutions for multiple services, work in the code, and understand at a detailed level how the software works
  • Cultivate a deep understanding of how your systems impact Wayfair’s customers, field associates, and other systems
  • Contribute to a culture of engineering excellence and strengthen the technical expertise of our engineering and product teams
  • Partner with cross functional stakeholder teams to build complex system integrations and interactions

Our take

Wayfair emerged in the early era of eCommerce with a mission to revolutionize online shopping, offering customers a convenient platform to purchase goods. Today, it stands as one of the foremost global players in the online furniture delivery industry, boasting an impressive inventory of over 33 million products.

Renowned for its extensive product range and comprehensive service offerings, Wayfair distinguishes itself by providing an end-to-end customer experience, from browsing to doorstep delivery. Despite its prominence, the company faces profitability challenges attributed largely to expansion expenses. Nonetheless, its solid presence in the competitive online homeware sector solidifies its position as a key contender.

With ambitious global expansion plans, Wayfair remains committed to maintaining its leadership in the industry. As it aspires to become the ultimate destination for all home needs, its more recent ventures into physical retail represent significant strides toward this overarching goal.
