What the job involves

  • The Services Delivery Enablement (SDE) team, within MongoDB Professional Services, is responsible for designing and developing technical enablement programs for a broad set of stakeholders within the MongoDB PS team and its consulting partner organisations
  • This includes consulting engineers, database administrators, and developers
  • Moreover, the team is a driving force behind consulting processes, playbooks, systems and tools to ensure these technical professionals are at the top of their game so that we provide a world-class customer experience
  • Artificial Intelligence, while not a new field, continues to advance rapidly and has recently gained significant attention
  • As a result, our customers’ needs and use cases are being radically transformed
  • Research and keep up to date with AI and its development, particularly as it relates to genAI advancements, to better understand how it can be applied to MongoDB products and offerings
  • Evaluate training requirements by product and role, and develop appropriate technical enablement programs for internal and partner stakeholders, with a particular focus on AI use cases
  • Deliver technical training to internal and partner stakeholders, principally consulting engineers and developers
  • Collaborate with the MongoDB product engineering, customer engineering, and sales teams to stay abreast of new products, features, and customer adoption scenarios. Develop engaging, accurate, in-depth enablement content that helps our consultants succeed in helping our customers adopt MongoDB for AI use cases
  • Apply all your skills to support the development of new and revised PS offerings to keep pace with industry trends, customer needs and MongoDB product evolution, particularly as they relate to AI
  • In this context, your role is to provide technical subject matter expertise as a co-creator of new PS offerings or to propose new offerings as you see fit, with an emphasis on how they can be optimised by leveraging AI
  • Build out and support crowd-sourcing of playbooks, best practices, and other technical consulting resources to drive a culture of excellence
  • Ensure that MongoDB consulting engineers and other roles have access to systems and resources necessary to perform their roles competently (e.g., cloud infrastructure, external e-learning)
  • Act as an advisor for MongoDB PS engineers, answering technical questions, finding resources for further study, and connecting them to different teams and processes within the organisation
  • Within 3 months:
  • Complete internal training on MongoDB
  • Be connected to the broader AI-focused, cross-functional community across MongoDB to remain aligned with other functions and to represent PS in planning and conversations
  • Work closely with and contribute effectively to the already established AI Specialism team and become the go-to AI subject matter expert in MongoDB PS
  • Take ownership of appropriate parts of the technical enablement curriculum, developing new and existing content and methods of delivery to ensure that we provide a superlative ramping experience, and can do so at scale
  • As needed, start delivering technical training to ramp MongoDB consulting engineers and partner developers
  • Within 6 months:
  • Develop a roadmap for potential AI-related offerings and internal tools. Support offerings development and provide support for AI-related PS opportunities as needed
  • Contribute to initial success in improving the evergreening of consultant skills, with a particular focus on how we scale expertise across a growing number of MongoDB products
  • Contribute to ongoing evolution of the enablement roadmap
  • Within 12 months:
  • Act as a driving force within the MongoDB consulting engineer community, meaningfully driving increased consistency and excellence in consulting delivery worldwide, through the build-out and crowd-sourcing of AI-related best practices and tools

Our take

MongoDB is an open-source, cross-platform, document-oriented database system. It stores data as JSON-like documents and is written in C++, Go, JavaScript and Python.

Essentially, the company develops tools and blueprints to help businesses and organisations modernise their legacy applications, migrating them to the MongoDB database and the MongoDB Atlas cloud database. With this initiative, MongoDB is particularly taking aim at Oracle customers with ageing applications running on the Oracle relational database system.

Since its release, MongoDB has become one of the most popularly used NoSQL database systems due to its ease of use and efficiency. It is also the fastest-growing database ecosystem, and boasts hundreds of millions of downloads. Recently, the company announced a partnership with Patronus AI, an automated evaluation and security platform, through which it will bring automated LLM evaluation and testing capabilities to enterprise customers.
