Who you are

  • Relevant experiences in quantitative or data science roles, preferably for safety, enforcement engineering, fraud etc
  • Ph.D., M.S. or Bachelors degree in Statistics, Machine Learning, Economics, Econometrics, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields (If M.S. or Bachelors degree, a minimum of 10+ years of industry data science experience required; If PhD degree, a minimum of 6+ years of industry data science experience required)
  • Deep understanding of analyzing complex networks of behavior or large scale content patterns. Examples include network analysis, natural language processing at scale, clustering of unstructured data, etc
  • Fluent with statistical analysis, programming languages (e.g., Python/R) and querying relational databases (e.g., SQL)
  • Comfortable in innovative and fast-paced environments, and an innate ability to bias toward action
  • Strong technical communication and demonstrated ability to discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences alike
  • Able to tackle ambiguous and undefined problems
  • Experience with enforcement pipeline development and spam mitigation is preferred

What the job involves

  • We are looking for a Staff Data Scientist specialized in Spam to join our Safety Enforcement Data Science team
  • Our team focuses on identifying trends in platform activity signaling potential or existing threats, providing intelligence to relevant stakeholders, and developing automated enforcement pipelines
  • Our scope includes harmful, scaled activity that is relevant to any of our policy violations, including spam, coordinated inauthentic behavior, and general abuse
  • This role will involve exposure to sensitive content along with expectations of incident response on-call
  • Elevate our enforcement strategy and capabilities by partnering with leaders in safety, community, and legal
  • Lead our Scaled Abuse detection and enforcement efforts across all policy violations with an emphasis on the many forms of Spam
  • Provide data driven guidance to our Product and Engineering teams in developing real time enforcement systems that enable us to mitigate exposure to harmful and unwanted content
  • Mentor Data Scientists and Threat Analyst in technical approaches for mitigating and detecting abuse
  • Share intelligence gathered to other safety stakeholders and executive decision makers
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends and techniques in abuse detection and prevention while applying this knowledge to improve our systems
