Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree in a highly quantitative discipline
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in the energy market industry
  • Minimum of 6 years of business development, sales, or marketing experience
  • Familiarity with wholesale energy market dynamics
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to interpret complex analytic solutions into value propositions
  • Professional attitude and presentation
  • Passion for clean energy, renewables, and the clean energy transition

Desirable

  • Proven business development and marketing experience within the energy industry
  • A background in renewable project development and/or engineering
  • Ability to identify, prospect, and contact high-level decision makers in large energy companies and to cultivate those relationships
  • Understanding of power price dynamics and settlements for markets run by Independent System Operators (ISOs)
  • Master’s degree in business, economics, or equivalent experience

What the job involves

  • Manage other sales team members that report to you
  • Coordinate with other product teams to leverage existing customer bases as well as identify and prospect renewable energy asset owners, developers, operators, and utilities to grow a pipeline of opportunities
  • Manage and negotiate close of contract sales for Ascend's ongoing optimization and bidding automation platform SmartBidder
  • Effectively communicate relative advantages of Ascend’s forecasting, bid optimization, and trading strategies for storage and renewable energy
  • Manage presentations and demos of analytic software solutions to in a highly proficient and professional manner
  • Manage sales through forecasting, account resource allocation, account strategy, and planning
  • Manage and develop solution proposals encompassing all aspects of the product
  • Manage and develop processes for cross selling and upselling
  • Manage and lead development of customer/prospecting events such as conferences, seminars, and webinars
  • Manage/develop materials for the mass marketing channels and specific events
  • Manage and lead timely and relevant data on opportunities and accounts in SalesForce
  • Manage and develop key customer relationships
  • Manage marketing to run email marketing campaigns
