Role
Who you are
- Several years of hands-on experience with administering Linux systems
- Deep understanding of how Linux works
- Python is a must. Ruby, Go, PHP or Kotlin would be a bonus
- Experience with configuration management such as Puppet, Terraform or Ansible
- Strong knowledge of DNS and TCP/IP
- You keep yourself updated about new trends in IT
Desirable
- Experience with integrating new technologies, adopting and administering them
- Project management experience, knowing how to set deadlines, evaluate time and effort required to complete tasks, and manage requirements
- Previous experience in writing complex automation software
- Ability to write technical documentation
- Experience with application security. As a growing public company, we aim to keep it safe
What the job involves
- Adopting new technologies into our stack. Experimenting with new solutions. Building solutions from scratch if we can’t find any on the market
- Enabling our engineers to bring new projects to life quickly and finding a balance between development and operations teams
- Solving ops problems: on-calls, incident management, and researching how we can prevent recurring issues
- Analysing and automating as much as possible to remove manual tasks
- Migrating from on-premise to private and public clouds, adopting Google Cloud
- Capacity planning and optimization of existing systems

Our take
Since launching in 2014, Bumble has been one of the fastest growing dating apps in the world. It now boasts over 12.3 million monthly active users, and is consistently in the top 10 of lifestyle apps in the US.
Bumble's founder was a co-founder and VP of Marketing at Tinder (she ultimately left among allegations of sexism at the company). This would have given her great insights and experience into the dating market as it began to come online - enabling the company to build for what people want.
Bumble's selling point, as it competes with a pile of other dating apps, is that is empowers women to make the first move by giving them the ability to control the conversation. This has certainly proved popular, and is no doubt one of the reasons behind its success so far.
